Steve Albini

Born July 22, 1962, Steve Albini is a renowned musician, record producer, and audio engineer known for his influential work in the alternative and underground rock scenes. Albini gained prominence as the frontman of the noise-rock band Big Black in the 1980s and later with Shellac, a post-hardcore band he co-founded in 1992.

As a producer, Albini worked on albums for iconic bands like Nirvana, producing their legendary album "In Utero" (1993), as well as for artists such as Pixies, PJ Harvey, and The Breeders. Albini was also the owner of Electrical Audio, a recording studio in Chicago, and was widely respected for his unorthodox recording techniques and commitment to maintaining artistic integrity.

He was featured in various music documentaries and interviews, including "Breadcrumb Trail" (2014) and "Brainiac: Transmissions After Zero" (2019), showcasing his lasting impact on music production. His music also featured in some movies, such as, "Girl on the Third Floor" (2019). Albini passed away on May 7, 2024, at the age of 61.
