Sarah Peirse is a New Zealand actress known for her work in both film and television, often portraying emotionally complex and nuanced characters. She began her acting career with roles in films such as the dramatic comedy "Arriving Tuesday" (1986) alongside Judy McIntosh and gained widespread recognition for her role in Peter Jackson’s critically acclaimed true-crime drama "Heavenly Creatures" (1994), where she starred with Melanie Lynskey.

Throughout the 2000s and 2010s, Peirse continued to build an impressive resume. She appeared in the psychological drama "The Rain" (2002) and was cast in two entries of Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit trilogy, playing a supporting role in "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" (2013) and "The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies" (2014), both major international successes.

Peirse also worked in television, including a role in the TV movie "Unconditional Love" (2002) and the sci-fi series "Hunters" (Syfy, 2016). She most recently appeared on MTV’s fantasy series "The Shannara Chronicles" (2015–), further showcasing her versatility across genres and formats.
