Harry Stockwell was an American actor and singer best known as the voice of the Prince in Disney’s "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" (1937), the studio’s first full-length animated feature. Born on April 27, 1902, in Kansas City, Missouri, Stockwell began his career on Broadway and in Hollywood musicals during the 1930s and 1940s. He had a rich baritone voice and appeared in stage productions such as "Oklahoma!", where he played Curly in the original Broadway run starting in 1943.
In addition to his stage and voice work, Stockwell had a few screen appearances, including roles in "Here Comes the Band" (1935) and "Broadway Melody of 1936". Though his filmography was relatively modest, his contribution to "Snow White" secured a lasting legacy in animation history.
He was the father of actors Dean Stockwell (of "Quantum Leap") and Guy Stockwell. Harry Stockwell passed away on July 19, 1984, in New York City.
