Born Drita Selmani in Albania and raised in Staten Island, Drita married Lee D’Avanzo, who has been associated with the New York mob scene and spent several periods in prison. Her storylines often revolved around raising her two daughters while her husband was incarcerated and trying to build her own identity apart from the mob lifestyle.
