See ‘We Were Liars’ Season 2 Behind-the-Scenes Photos: ‘Vampire Diaries’ Reunion & More
Now that the We Were Liars cast and crew have returned to Nova Scotia to film Season 2, we’re getting more and more behind-the-scenes content. With new cast members joining the Beechwood fam, we have been at the edge of our seats waiting for photos from set. Luckily, co-creator and showrunner Carina Adly MacKenzie just dropped plenty of BTS pics, including a very special reunion between two Vampire Diaries cast members!
Season 2 of the Prime Video hit is set to follow E. Lockhart‘s semi-prequel We Were Liars novel, We Fell Apart, which follows the young Sinclair sisters and their present-day counterparts. On May 7, Prime Video revealed the flashback cast, which includes Josh Dallas (Manifest) as young Harris, Peyton List (Mad Men) as young Tipper, Madison Wolfe (True Detective) as Bess, Parker Lapaine (House of the Dragon) as Carrie, and Elysia Roorbach (The Pitt) as Penny. At the same time, Tell Me Lies alum Costa D’Angelo was cast as Pfeff.
Over a month later, the rest of the Family of Liars teens were cast, with Madeleine Arthur (To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before) as Yardley, Jaelynn Thora Brooks (Adults) as Erin, Layla Douglas (Brilliant Minds) as Rosemary, Callan Potter (Heated Rivalry) as Gideon, Aidan Shaw (Finding Her Edge) as George, and Brendon Tremblay (Descendants: Wicked Wonderland) as Major. Rounding out the cast are Shaun Sipos (High Potential) as Dean and Riley Voelkel as adult Yardley (The Originals).

Joseph Zada, Carina Adly MacKenzie & Jaelynn Thora Brooks
To celebrate the arrival of August (Taylor Swift season, of course), creator Carina Adly MacKenzie posted pictures from a cast and crew boat party, writing “Salt air etc.” She posed with Joseph Zada of the present timeline and Jaelynn Thora Brooks of the past timeline.
Marguerite MacIntyre, Candice King & Carina Adly MacKenzie
Did you know that Marguerite MacIntyre, who played Liz Forbes on The Vampire Diaries, has joined Season 2 of We Were Liars as an executive producer and writer? Seeing Liz and Caroline (King) reunite has definitely gotten fans talking. One commenter wrote, “My heart has healed seeing sheriff Forbes and Caroline together again…”
Candice King, Marguerite MacIntyre & Madison Wolfe
Vampire Diaries stars King and MacIntyre also posed with Madison Wolfe, who plays Young Bess in Season 2. It’s like seeing double!
Carina Adly MacKenzie with Joseph Zada, Aidan Shaw & Madeleine Arthur
Carina Adly MacKenzie also posed with young cast members Joseph Zada, Aidan Shaw, Madeleine Arthur, and another woman who is not tagged. Looks like past and present Beechwood residents’ worlds collided for this party!
Shaun Sipos & Madeleine Arthur
The final photo from the boat party featured Shaun Sipos (another Vampire Diaries alum) and Madeleine Arthur, who have joined the cast as Dean and Yardley, a dad and daughter duo from the past. Dean is Harris’ (David Morse) brother, which makes Yardley the Sinclair sisters’ cousin.
Josh Dallas with Parker Lapaine, Madison Wolfe, & Elysia Roorbach
Josh Dallas posed with three out of four of his onscreen daughters in another smiley selfie, unlike anything Harris Sinclair would ever take.
Costa D'Angelo, Parker Lapaine, & Josh Dallas
Dallas has gone blond! He posed with his onscreen daughter, Parker Lapaine, and her We Were Liars love interest, Costa D’Angelo.
Jaelynn Thora Brooks, Cal Potter, Brendon Tremblay, Aidan Shaw, & Madeleine Arthur
The actors behind Yardley, Erin, Gideon, George, and Major together! While Yardley, Erin, George, and Major are a friend group, Gideon is the most sought after tennis coach in Beechwood.

Josh Dallas & Shaun Sipos
Brothers! In our first behind-the-scenes photo of Harris and Dean (Yardley’s dad), Dallas and Sipos are definitely giving off that Sinclair charm.

Pfeff, we are so ready for you to win (and probably break) our hearts! Dallas shared this close-up photo of his costar on set.
New We Were Liars Season 2 set photo
Dallas posted another BTS photo of the Season 2 set, where it looks like a beachfront event (possibly Fourth of July themed) is taking place.
Jaelynn Thora Brooks, Cal Potter, Brendon Tremblay, & Aidan Shaw
Dallas shared this shot of Brooks, Potter, Tremblay, and Shaw on the set of Season 2. Welcome to Beechwood!
