A Guide to ‘The Amazing Race’ Season 39 Cast Connections
Another group of duos is going to be racing around the world and into our hearts during Season 39 of The Amazing Race.
As the new season gets underway, we’re taking a U-Turn back into the pairs’ lives before the show, breaking down their relationships, including everything from a grandson-and-grandpa pairing to a set of newlyweds. For those duos who aren’t romantic pairings, we’ve also done a deep dive into their love lives to see if anyone has significant others and kids cheering them on back home, or if any showmances could be around the corner. (We love to see a cross-team showmance take wing!)

Michelle & Matt
Relationship: Married
After what Michelle calls “love at first sight,” Matt and Michelle have been together for 10 years and married for three and a half. They have two adorable kids cheering them on from back home in New Jersey.
Katie & Charlotte
Relationship: Sisters
Both Katie and Charlotte appear to be racing into Season 39 single. The sisters are part of a family of 12 kids, and Charlotte is six years younger than Katie. In their pre-season video, they revealed that they recently moved in together.
Daisha & Dalton
Relationship: Engaged
Ahead of the season premiere, Daisha and Dalton have gotten engaged! During their pre-season video, they revealed that they met when she was in grad school. At the time, Dalton sent her a video of him “sliding into her DMs.” As she put it, “It worked.” Dalton hopes to travel to the Philippines this season because he was adopted from there.
Ali & Joanna
Relationship: Best Friends
You might recognize soccer stars Ali Krieger and Joanna Lohman from USWNT. They’ve retired from the field, but the besties are ready to get back into the competitive spirit. Ali shares two adopted children with ex-wife Ashlyn Harris. Joanna is married to Melodie George, with whom she has a daughter. In case you were wondering, these icons call themselves “celesbians” (a.k.a. celebrity lesbians).
Anuar & Andrea
Relationship: Father/Daughter
During their pre-season video, Anuar revealed that he separated from Andrea’s mom when she was young, and they reconnected when she was older by watching The Amazing Race together. At this time, they have not made their relationship statuses public.
Dafina & Saran
Relationship: Sisters
According to Dafina and Saran, sisterly love is the most important relationship there is. Dafina’s Instagram is mostly devoted to her DJing career, so her relationship status is unclear. However, Saran appears to have a husband and have a daughter in sixth grade named Sanaa.
Zach & Nate
Relationship: Brothers
Zach and Nate call their wives “fantastic women” and “the best things to ever happen to us” in their pre-season video. They also mention that they have kids who are around the same age! Younger brother Nate is married to Hannah, and older brother Zach is married to Lee.
Ann-Marie & Riley
Relationship: Mother/Daughter
Boss ladies Ann-Marie and Riley are ready to race all the way to the final leg. Ann-Marie is marred to John, with whom she has two daughters, including Riley. Riley is also married but hasn’t mentioned her husband’s name online. Two weeks ahead of the season premiere, she gave birth to her first son, Miles.
Conner & Garrett
Relationship: Childhood Best Friends
This duo has been best buds since they were three years old. After growing up together, they went to the same college and moved in together. Garrett appears to have a girlfriend named Madison. Conner only posts about his car, so it’s unclear whether he’s in a relationship.
Doug & Dylan
Relationship: Grandpa/Grandson
Eighteen-year-old Dylan and his “Pop” are best friends. Dylan appears to be single, and Doug is not active on social media, so we’ll have to wait until the race to find out more about this duo’s personal lives.
Cody & Jaime
Relationship: Siblings
Cody and Jaime are two of four siblings, with Cody being the only boy of the bunch. According to Jaime in their pre-season video, this has trained him to be a husband one day. They want to “win the moolah” for their mother, who recently fell and needs to move. Jaime has a husband named Jonny, with whom she has two kids.
Erin & Javi
Relationship: Newlyweds
Erin and Javi met in college at a nightclub, completely forgot about meeting, but exchanged phone numbers, which ultimately brought them back together. Ahead of the season, they tied the knot, and now, post-season, they are expecting a baby boy.
Jody & Jenn
Relationship: Childhood Best Friends
Childhood besties Jody and Jenn have known each other since kindergarten, but now, they “don’t get to see each other too often.” In their pre-season video, they revealed that they are both moms. Jody and Jenn aren’t active on social media, so we don’t too much about their love lives yet!
