All About Joran van der Sloot’s Ex-Wife, Daughter & More
Joran van der Sloot is back in the news amid the release of Netflix’s new docuseries Taken: Natalee Holloway, which explores the 2005 disappearance of high school senior Natalee Holloway in Aruba. Joran confessed to killing Natalee in 2023 as part of a plea deal for charges of extortion and wire fraud against him.
He is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence for the charges in conjunction with a 28-year sentence for the murder of Stephany Flores Ramírez in Peru in May 2010. In 2023, 18 years were also added to his sentence after he was found guilty of drug trafficking in prison. Joran is set for release in 2045 due to a Peruvian law that prison sentences do not exceed 35 years.

Who is Joran van der Sloot’s ex-wife?
Joran’s ex-wife is Leidy Figueroa from Peru. They tied the knot in July 2014 at the prison where he’s serving his sentence, his attorney confirmed at the time. The lawyer also confirmed that Leidy was an accountant and had one child, a son, when she met Joran.

In May 2023, Joran’s lawyer confirmed to the Daily Mail that Joran was divorcing Leidy amid his romance with another woman (more on that below).
How did Joran van der Sloot meet his ex-wife?
Leidy and Joran met when she was visiting an inmate in the same prison where Joran was doing time. “They became friends and spent a lot of time together in his cell,” the lawyer explained. “Unlike the United States, here in Peru, loved ones or relatives can see inmates inside their jails.”
Joran’s attorney insisted that there was no “hidden agenda” behind the marriage, stating that the convicted criminal was simply “in love” and expecting a child with Leidy at the time.
Does Joran van der Sloot have kids?
Yes, Joran and Leidy have one child together. Their daughter, Dushy, was born on September 30, 2014, just about three months after the former couple tied the knot.
It is unclear whether Joran has a relationship with his daughter, who is now 12 years old.
Who is Joran van der Sloot’s girlfriend?
In 2020, Joran started seeing Eva Pacohuanaco romantically. They also met when she was visiting someone else at the prison with a friend. At the time, Joran told Eva that he was getting divorced. She claimed in a 2024 Peacock documentary that she did not know Joran and said she believed him, which led to them starting to have “intimate encounters” at the prison.

Eva became involved in Joran’s drug trafficking scheme unknowingly, she alleged in the doc, claiming that she thought she was bringing groceries into the prison for her boyfriend. However, guards intercepted the order and found nearly 300 grams of cocaine and 140 grams of marijuana. Eva was not convicted.
In 2024, the New York Post reported that Joran has three women on his approved list for conjugal visits in prison, including Eva.
“Joran had a bunch of girlfriends,” his lawyer told the Daily Mail in 2023. “Lots of girls used to visit him.” He also noted that Leidy was the “most loyal” to Joran during the course of their relationship.
