It’s been more than 20 years since Natalee Holloway went missing on a graduation trip to Aruba in May 2005. In the years following her disappearance, her mom, Beth Holloway, never gave up the fight for answers, ultimately resulting in Joran van der Sloot’s 2003 confession that he killed the 18-year-old.
Now, Beth is sharing her full story in the Netflix series Taken: Natalee Holloway. All three parts of the docuseries drop on November 4, with unprecedented access to Beth and those closest to Natalee. Below, we rounded up more to know about Beth’s romantic history over the years and what we know about her love life today.
Are Natalee Holloway’s parents still married?
No, Natalee’s parents are not married. Beth and Natalee’s dad, Dave Holloway, divorced in 1993 when Natalee was just seven years old. They met in college and got married shortly afterwards, but had been divorced for years when Natalee went missing.
In 1995, Dave married his second wife, Robin, and they welcomed two daughters, Brooke and Kaitlyn. While Natalee and her brother moved in with Beth and her second husband in Alabama, Dave lived Mississippi, but said he maintained a relationship with his daughter over the years.

In Dave’s 2006 memoir, he said Natalee visited his home every other weekend and “more frequently” on summer vacation, according to ABC. “During Natalee’s senior year in high school, her visits were a bit less frequent due to her many extracurricular activities,” he added. “So Robin and I made it our business to visit her and watch her dance at football games with her dance team, the Dorians.”
Is Beth Holloway married?
No, Beth is not currently married, although she has mostly kept her private life out of the public eye in recent years. When Natalee disappeared in 2005, Beth was married to George “Jug” Twitty. They tied the knot in 2000 after meeting three years earlier, and he was by her side during the first months of the search for Natalee in Aruba.
However, Jug filed for divorce from Beth in December 2006. In his court filing, he noted that they had separated that month, citing “such a complete incompatibility of temperament that the parties can no longer live together.”
Did Beth Holloway date John Ramsey?
Yes, Beth briefly dated John Ramsey, the father of JonBenét Ramsey, a child pageant queen who was murdered in her home in 1996. Beth and John struck up a friendship and were briefly romantically involved in 2007.
“He is a dear friend of mine,” Beth told Oprah.com the following year. “We were dating, I would say. But now I think we really just support each other. I feel as if he has a lot of miles on me, as far as into his journey. I feel like he was a really good source of support and strength.”
Beth and John met at a fundraiser in Colorado in 2006. “They share common interests and concerns related to their children, particularly with respect to the actions of law enforcement and the media in response to those tragic losses,” John’s attorney told the Daily News.
John’s wife and JonBenét’s mom, Patsy, died of cancer in June 2006.
How many kids does Beth Holloway have?
In addition to Natalee, Beth shares a son, Matthew, with her ex-husband, Dave. Following her divorce from Dave, she was awarded sole custody of both children after a “long arduous battle,” she wrote in her memoir, per Oprah.com.
Matthew was 16 years old when his sister went missing on her graduation trip. “I was gone pretty much for a year, and he grew up pretty fast and in a hurry,” Beth told People of her youngest child, adding that he had to “become a man” quickly following his sister’s disappearance.
Today, Matt is in his 30s and works as a pilot. In 2023, his and Natalee’s half-sister, Kaitlyn, told The New York Post that Matt has two children. One of those kids is a daughter named Rylee, who was born in December 2014.
During Beth’s marriage to Jug, she was a stepmother to his two children from a previous relationship, Megan and George. “Matt and Natalee absolutely loved his two older children, Megan and George, and looked forward to moving to the lovely bedroom community of Mountain Brook in Birmingham, Alabama, to join their new family and start their new life,” she said in her book.
