Country music power couple Tim McGraw and Faith Hill celebrated 30 years of marriage this year, and they’re excited about what the next 30 years will bring. The couple has remained united over the decades as they raised their daughters, Gracie, Maggie, and Audrey, and faced any challenges thrown their way.
In a new interview, the “Humble and Kind” singer got candid about all the changes in his life and gave an update about his marriage to Hill. “There’s so many changes in life that happen throughout a lifetime in a marriage and a family,” he said on Esquire’s What I’ve Learned podcast. “There’s so many changes. Next year, we’ll both be 60. We’ve been married for 30 years. We’ve lived a lot of life.”
McGraw noted that his middle daughter, Maggie, is engaged to James Rubin. “So, sooner or later, they’ll be married, and there will be grandkids, so we’re stepping into a new phase of life,” the singer said regarding his marriage to Hill. “And sometimes, that requires not talking about it and just moving on through. And sometimes, it requires sitting down and talking about it a little bit, saying, ‘Hey, we need to check in a little bit and see where we’re at now that everything’s changing.'”
He acknowledged that “points of change in a marriage” happen regularly over the years and can be “the most dangerous parts” in a relationship. “I think the best time to dive into each other and really rediscover each other is at the worst times when you think things are falling apart,” he said.

McGraw also spoke openly about his issues with substance abuse and alcoholism in the past. He admitted that his wife has been his salvation through it all. “I’ve had fallbacks on occasion here and there, but she always loves me,” McGraw noted. “She loves me through it. So through all those times, we’re at such a good place in our life now that I was at a point where I thought my marriage and my everything would be over.”
The 1883 star gushed that Hill “knows my heart and my soul better than anybody in the world.”
