What To Know

  • Season 2 of The Black Dagger Brotherhood will primarily focus on Mary and Rhage’s romance, but also introduces significant connections between Bella and Zsadist.
  • The dynamic between Bella and Zsadist is described as intense and immediate, with both actors highlighting the chemistry and emotional growth their characters experience together.
  • This season will expand the roles of beloved characters like Beth and Marissa, while also exploring the strong friendship between Bella and Mary.

Don’t be alarmed, The Black Dagger Brotherhood readers. Season 2 of the Passionflix series, based on J.R. Ward’s bestselling novels, will still primarily focus on Mary (Audrey Hare) and Rhage’s (Alexander Cubis) romance. They just aren’t the only two people making connections in the upcoming season. In fact, Mary only comes into contact with the Brotherhood and the love of her life because her neighbor, Bella (Mariah Davis) makes the connection.

And why should Mary have all the fun this season? We won’t spoil the fun, but Bella gets a little more than she bargained for at the Brotherhood compound when she accompanies Mary there and wanders off to find Zsadist (Andrew Biernat) mid-training. What ensues probably doesn’t count as a meet-cute…

“I wouldn’t necessarily call it a meet-cute. It was more of a meet… aggressive?” Biernat pondered to Swooon on The Black Dagger Brotherhood Season 2 premiere carpet. He admitted that the scene was difficult, but only had positive things to say about his costar. “Mariah was amazing to work with, and she’s such a professional. She’s super talented.”

He also teased that fans will start to see a softer side of Zsadist this season, now that Bella and Mary are hanging around the Brotherhood. He was accused of multiple homicides in Season 1, so it was hard to imagine him being perceived as any rougher around the edges.

“He’s starting to open up more, especially with Mary coming into the picture. She’s really the one who teaches him how to read,” Biernat revealed. “We have Mary entering the picture, and we have Bella entering the picture. I think that really starts to bring down Zsadist’s walls.”

For Davis, the connection between Zsadist and Bella was instant, even if it is combative. You can’t deny chemistry when it’s right in front of your face.

“I think all of Bella’s life has been what’s expected of her, which I relate to as a woman. We all have these expectations that I feel like society makes us feel like we have to mold to,” Davis explained at the premiere. “The thing about Zsadist, why she feels so drawn to him, is there’s just this freedom that comes from him. I think we have soulmates, and we just feel that tether between two people. I think Bella feels that tether with Zsadist, but there’s also a certain freedom that she feels. The only expectation is for her to be herself. I think that’s ultimately what all of us want.”

However, Bella and Zsadist isn’t the only relationship that Davis is hoping to explore more in The Black Dagger Brotherhood. She also wants to see more of Bella and Mary’s friendship as they both explore this dark world together.

“This season, Tosca [Musk, director and CEO] wanted to bring some beloved characters into the season more that weren’t as prominent in the books. We will see more Beth and more Marissa than we saw in the book,” she teased. “And I am hoping in Season 3 that we see a little more Bella and Mary because I think their friendship is so beautiful and so strong.”

It sounds like we have a lot of treats coming our way, both this season and next.
