What To Know

  • Off Campus Season 2 will introduce Grace Ivers, who leads Elle Kennedy’s The Mistake alongside John Logan.
  • If it follows the same route of Season 1, Season 2 could introduce some moments from their romance before they become the lead couple.
  • Swooon explains every The Mistake book scene that we think should be in Season 2.

By now, you don’t need us to tell you that Dean Di Laurentis (Stephen Kalyn) and Allie Hayes (Mika Abdalla) are centering Off Campus Season 2, including the moments we didn’t see from Elle Kennedy’s The Score in Season 1. Since Season 1 covers quite a bit of The Score — and India Fowler has already been cast as Briar U freshman Grace Ivers — it’s clear that elements of John Logan’s (Antonio Cipriano) book, The Mistake, will come into play in Season 2.

Really, the only question is how much of The Mistake will be covered before Logan and Grace (hopefully) become the leads of Off Campus Season 3, should Prime Video renew the hockey romance adaptation. Should it follow the same route as Season 1, which dedicates a bottle episode and significant subplot to Dean and Allie while Garrett (Belmont Cameli) and Hannah (Ella Bright) fall in love, we could very well be seeing quite a few fan-favorite book scenes in Season 2.

Naturally, we have a Season 2 Logan and Grace scene wishlist. (We even know exactly what moment the second season should end on to set up for a third.) Here’s every beat we hope Season 2 hits to set the groundwork for the bulk of The Mistake‘s love story.

The frat party

At the start of The Mistake, which begins toward the end of Grace’s first year at Briar, Grace runs into Logan at a frat party. After an awkward conversation with a guy goes wrong, Grace sees Logan exiting the bathroom with a girl he obviously just hooked up with. Logan and Grace don’t exchange words, but he leaves an impression — the interaction inspires her to take more risks. We find out that she’s noticed the “smoking hot” hockey player before then, and a little while later, her inner monologue reveals that she’s been crushing on him.

Grace’s crush on Logan needs to be established in the show, so the party moment needs to make it in. Even better — there have been theories online that Grace makes Easter egg appearances in Season 1, even more than that name drop at the Malone’s fundraiser. What if their book frat party encounter instead happens at Season 1’s costume party, and when we meet Grace, we see flashbacks to their first time meeting? That way, it would give a little more weight to Grace’s crush. But that’s just our two cents.

Die Hard 2

Obviously, Grace and Logan’s first (albeit accidental) hangout in her dorm room is a must. Logan knocks on Grace’s door thinking it’s the location of his friend’s party. (It’s not.) He left his phone at home, so he can’t check where it really is, so he borrows Grace’s. Of course, he can’t remember his friend’s number, so he decides to borrow Grace’s laptop to find a taxi service’s number. (Surely it’ll be updated a little in the show to be more with the current times, if included.) He notices that Grace is watching Die Hard 2. The movie must be Die Hard 2 in the show. They get to chatting about the movie, and find themselves watching the whole thing together.

The whole thing is giving Hannah and Garrett’s post-costume party scene, where they start building a friendship first. It’s like Logan and Grace have been friends for years rather than a mere hour or so. But it stands apart in that Grace wants Logan to kiss her the whole time. Picking up on the vibe, he does exactly that. It gets steamy fast — but doesn’t exactly pan out how Grace had hoped.

Grace admitting that she faked it

Yep, John Logan is known around campus as a sex god, but he doesn’t manage to get Grace all the way there during their first hands-only hookup. In Logan’s defense, Grace lies when Logan asks if she finished. He leaves her dorm, only putting two and two together after the fact. His ego takes a blow. He thinks about it constantly. He won’t let it stand — leaving a girl wanting is unacceptable — so he shows up at Grace’s dorm without warning. Needless to say, he rectifies the issue. Eventual hotness aside, the whole situation is rom-com perfection. It simply must play out exactly the same onscreen.

The dining hall

Grace’s roommate and longtime friend, Ramona, sucks. She tells her friends that Grace hooked up with Logan, causing another student, Piper, to spread a rumor that Grace is lying. Piper even goes on social media to badmouth Grace. Logan catches wind, and it infuriates him — and we need Logan’s protective side on screen. He finds Grace at the dining hall and kisses her in front of everyone. It’s glorious.

The water tower

The next iconic scene arrives almost immediately after the dining hall. When Logan takes her to his hometown, Graces faces her fear of heights to climb a water tower with him. It’s not quite romantic with how nervous Grace is, at least at first. But Logan opens up about growing up nearby, and tells her about his family issues for the first time. It’s a turning point, the first instance of their connection really getting deeper, so obviously it needs to make it into the show. Plus, we’re sure it would turn out totally gorgeous on screen.

Logan and Hannah’s conversation

Of course, we haven’t yet reached the big, titular mistake. Through all the aforementioned scenes, Logan is under the impression that he’s merely distracting himself with Grace and that he doesn’t really want to be with her romantically. (Logan is a lovable idiot when it comes to this.) He’s convinced he has a crush on Hannah, which the show has already established in Season 1. Just when Grace is about to have sex with Logan for the first time, he comes clean about how he (supposedly feels), devastating Grace.

Hannah, the legend that she is, later helps Logan figure out the truth. Hannah surmises that it’s not her that Logan wants. Logan simply envies the relationship that Hannah and Garrett have, and he could have that with Grace. Need we say more? We need this heart-to-heart between Logan and Hannah in Season 2 — as well as the ensuing light bulb moment. It would hit so hard at the tail-end of an episode.

Grace leaving for Paris

This is the aforementioned scene we think Season 2 should end with. Logan desperately tries to contact Grace, but she isn’t responding. He even resorts to texting Ramona. Horrible friend that she is, Ramona tries to get into Logan’s pants after hearing about his falling out with Grace. Logan sends Grace a screenshot right away. It’s the perfect storm: Grace needs to get out of there, so she moves up her flight to Paris, where she was planning on spending the summer with her mom. Logan doesn’t see her before she leaves, creating some delicious angst while Grace ghosts him until the next semester.

Book fans: Do you agree that these moments need to make it into Season 2, or should they be saved for a potential Season 3? Are there any others on your wishlist? Tell us in the comments below!
