On July 22, 2019, Bachelor Nation history was made when eliminated Bachelorette contestant Luke Parker interrupted Hannah Brown‘s rose ceremony with an engagement ring in hand. Now that Season 15 star Tyler Cameron is competing on Dancing with the Stars (Go Team SharT!), his reaction to Luke’s stunt has gone viral yet again. Tyler even had to explain the significance of his “or what?” moment to his DWTS partner, Sharna Burgess, in a TikTok live.
In case you weren’t tapped in to Bachelor Nation circa 2019, here’s the sitch: Throughout the season, Hannah felt a semi-spiritual soul connection to Luke P. (as he was affectionately called at the time), even though the rest of the cast did not like him. Ahead of Fantasy Suites at the final four, Luke told Hannah that he could not continue if she slept with someone else. Of course, she already had… in a windmill… four times… and “Jesus still loves [her].”
After Hannah told Luke that he didn’t have the right to tell her what to do, he pivoted, telling her, “I’m willing to do or work through anything.” Luke reluctantly told her that they’ll get past it.
Still, Hannah confessed, “The closest thing I’ve ever felt to love at first sight was probably with you… To have you say this about me, and make me feel like you would look at me any differently, and judge me, or make me feel like you would not think of me as a woman of faith, like I am, and that we weren’t on the same page? […] I feel like I’ve finally gotten clarity on you, and I do not want you to be my husband.”
So, where does Tyler Cameron come into the picture? After Hannah eliminated Luke, revealing that she did, in fact, sleep with one of the contestants — unfortunately, it was Peter Weber, not Tyler — he returned for the final four rose ceremony. The rest of the cast, including Tyler, Peter, and Jed Wyatt, didn’t know Luke had been sent home.
At the rose ceremony, Hannah was shocked to see Luke. “Why are you here?” she asked. When he refused to go, she told him, “I’m about to go psycho, so please leave.” While he put up a fight, Hannah moved the rose podium to cut him out of the picture entirely. That’s when the three remaining guys, including Tyler, surrounded Luke and told him to leave Hannah alone.
As Jed and Tyler walked over to Luke, Jed put a hand on Luke’s chest, leading him to growl, “Lay your hands off me.” That’s when Tyler gave his now-famous response, “Or what?” Ladies, if he wanted to, he would! “Did you already send him home, Han?” Tyler asked Hannah. When Hannah responded, Tyler told Luke, “Alright, then let’s go.” Soon after, then-host Chris Harrison intervened, and Luke finally left.
While Hannah ultimately chose to be with Jed (at least until she found out he had a girlfriend the entire season), Tyler’s protective “rose ceremony from hell” moment will forever live on as one of the hottest moments in Bachelor Nation history.
