Bill Maher Relationship Status: All About His Love Life & Dating History
Bill Maher has been in the spotlight for years, but he’s been able to keep a lot of details about his personal life private. One thing Maher has confirmed, though, is that he’s never been married and doesn’t plan to tie the knot.
In 2019, he told Howard Stern that his comedy career isn’t what’s keeping him from settling down with someone. “It’s not [the career] that would hurt the marriage, but I’ve never understood… I’ve tried to have relationships, I’ve been in love. I’ve known a couple amazing women. But I never understood how you could be with the same person, day after day, month after month, year after year. I don’t get that.”

Does Bill Maher have a girlfriend?
Maher mostly keeps his relationship status private, but he did hint that he’s seeing someone on his Club Random podcast in August. While telling a story, he used the phrase “my girl,” which prompted Shannon Elizabeth to ask, “So you do have a girl? You said before you were single.”
The comedian quickly changed the subject, replying, “Well, let’s not parse the words.”

Since 2024, he has been romantically linked to Noor Alfallah, the ex of Al Pacino and mother of his youngest child. The two were most recently spotted together at a pre-Grammys party in January 2026.
However, Alfallah insisted in October 2024, “Bill’s my friend, just my friend. He’s great, though, but we are just friends.” At the time, People reported that the two were “friends” who had gone on “several dates.”
Who has Bill Maher dated?
Despite Maher’s not wanting to settle down, he’s been linked to various women over the years. One of his most notable relationships was with actress Thora Birch, whom he dated for about a year in 2004 and 2005.
Other women he’s dated over the years include Anujlie Persaud, Jasmine Boussem, Karrine Steffans, Rochelle Loewen, and Coco Johnsen, among others.
In a 2024 interview, Maher admitted that he actively chooses to only date younger women, noting, “My dating is not age-appropriate.” He added, “The people who are pissed off at that, f**k you. You do you, I do me. You do what works for you.”
He also touched on his decision to never get married. “I don’t believe in it,” Maher insisted. “It’s not Hinduism, there’s no belief in it. It would ruin everything. I mean, I’m not going to. I love to talk about this subject, but it’s tough because I also don’t really ever want to divulge the details of my own personal life.”
Does Bill Maher have kids?
No, Maher never had children, and has expressed that he’s never had an interest in becoming a father. “I’ve never been interested in kids,” he once said in an interview.
While he admitted that marriage “could happen” for him, kids were fully off the table. “You’re a different person every decade, but I’d have to become a really different person to want kids.”
He also said he wouldn’t be a good father and added, “Everyone says to me, ‘You don’t like kids, but when it’s yours, you will.’ I think I’d be the first guy to look in the crib when it’s mine and go, ‘Still nothing. Nope. Still nothing.'”
