For more than 30 years, Holly Rowe has been working as a sports reporter for ESPN. Now, she works as the lead sideline reporter for the network’s Saturday night college football coverage, and she recently made headlines after her interview with University of Texas coach Steve Sarkisian went viral.

It is not believed that Rowe currently has a boyfriend, although she is tight-lipped about her personal life. The only relationship she has publicly spoken about was with a man who was “Mr. Switzerland” and “a bodybuilder.” Rowe also called him “smoking hot.”
She did not reveal the ex-boyfriend’s actual identity, but said she dated him for four years before breaking up with him. They seemingly dated from 2008 to 2012 (more on that below).
What happened between Holly Rowe and Mr. Switzerland?
While Rowe did not delve into specifics about her mystery ex, she did reveal why she broke up with him. During a 2025 appearance at the Little Rock Touchdown Club, Rowe revealed that Mr. Switzerland made a comment she disagreed with while they were attending the ESPY Awards in 2012.

“The reason we broke up was we were at the ESPYs, and [legendary women’s basketball coach] Pat Summitt had just gotten this award, the Arthur Ashe Courage Award, because she had just been diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s,” Rowe explained. “And we’re at the ESPYS, and I’m just bawling in the audience, and he asked me, ‘What’s wrong with you? She’s just a coach.’ And so we broke up.”
To further clarify, she told the group, “So I just need you to understand I gave up Mr. Switzerland because of Pat Summitt. This is a true story.”
Who is the father of Holly Rowe’s son?
Rowe is the mother of McKylin Jordan Rowe, who was born in 1995. She has not publicly revealed the identity of his father and raised McKylin as a single mother.
“Special shout out to my son Mckylin who has literally been there with me every step of the way!” she once wrote on Instagram. “He was 12 weeks old when I got my ‘big break’ with ESPN. Thank you for your patience and support. Mommy loves you.”

McKylin is an actor and producer. He and his mother also co-founded the Joy + US foundation, a “nonprofit organization created to spark joy in the lives of those who need it most.” Rowe was inspired to start the organization after her stage IV metastatic melanoma diagnosis, during which “she started keeping a daily joy journal to record the little moments that made her absolutely happy.”
