‘A Different World’s Chibuikem Uche: All About the Revival Standout
Here at Swooon, we’re already big fans of Hillman College’s new generation. Netflix’s A Different World sequel series premiered on September 24 and introduced us to its latest class of students.
Chibuikem Uche is among the stars of the revival, stepping into the role of charming fashion designer Kojo. A Different World is the new show of the fall, and all eyes are on the new cast. Kojo is one of the breakout characters, and he’s sure to make your heart melt. Swooon is taking a closer look at the 26-year-old’s life before acting, his notable roles, and more.
Where is Chibuikem Uche from?
Uche is from London, just like his character. The actor was born to Nigerian parents and lived in London until he was eight, before moving to Connecticut. He has a brother, Chinaza, who is also an actor.
What has Chibuikem Uche been in before?
He made his TV debut as Andre in the ABC series American Housewife. Uche was then cast as Cooper Clay in Peacock’s TV adaptation of One of Us Is Lying. The show ran for two seasons.

Uche starred alongside Chris Pratt in The Tomorrow War. He also appeared in episodes of All American, The Rookie, and Paradise before being cast as Kojo in A Different World.
What did Chibuikem Uche do before he was an actor?
He went to the University of Connecticut and earned a degree in mathematics and actuarial science, according to his interview with A Book Of. Before becoming an actor, Uche “worked in corporate America as an actuary.”
“My mom and dad had said that they wanted all their children to at least have first degrees,” he told Muscle & Fitness. “So, the expectation was always that we would go to school and graduate university.”
When he realized acting was his passion, Uche began taking an acting class in New York City, which he would juggle with his full-time job.
