Following her split from her then-husband in 2014, De Laurentiis took a year and a half to “reset.” As she told People, “Once I got settled, Shane and I reconnected, and I felt like a kid again.”

Their reconnection happened after Farley moved to Los Angeles in 2015 to work on a talk show called FABLife. It happened to be filmed on the same lot where De Laurentiis’ production company is located. After bumping into each other, the two formed a friendship and eventually began dating.

Now, they’ve been together for more than a decade but haven’t publicly discussed plans to tie the knot.

What happened between Giada De Laurentiis and her husband?

De Laurentiis was married to Todd Thompson, a fashion designer, from 2003 until their 2015 divorce. She met him when she was just 19 and studying at UCLA.

In December 2014, De Laurentiis announced she was separating from Thompson after more than a decade of marriage. “Although our decision to separate comes with a great deal of sadness, our focus on the future and overwhelming desire for our family’s happiness has given us the strength to move forward on separate, yet always connected paths,” she shared on Facebook. “Todd and I share a beautiful daughter and a lifetime of great memories that we both treasure more than anything. We are so thankful for our friends and family, and really appreciate the support in this time of change.”

In 2015, she admitted, “We had been together since I was 19; I’m now 45. That’s a lifetime with someone. It was a very difficult time. I don’t have the answers; I’m figuring them out as I go. I’m also afraid, like many other women who go through this, and men, too, for that matter.”

Meanwhile, Farley was previously married for 15 years. He and fitness trainer Jennifer Giamo tied the knot in 2000 and divorced in 2015.

Ahead of her DWTS journey, De Laurentiis documented Jade leaving for college in August 2026. She will be attending New York University.
