What shows and movies has Hugo Diego Garcia been in before?
When he moved to Los Angeles, Garcia began writing short films that he also starred in, including Tony, Cagnolino, Imago, and Mauve. In 2024, he landed his first big role in Hulu’s Death and Other Things, followed by a part in Demi Moore’s body-horror film The Substance. He played Diego, Sue’s boyfriend. His first feature film, Vache Folle, came out the following year. Garcia, who wrote, directed, and starred in the film, co-founded a production company called Karanta Zero.
“Today, I write and direct my own movies, in which I also act. Doing so allows me to explore the stories and characters that interest me the most and work with my team – my best friends with whom I grew up,” he said in an interview with Voyage LA.
Before becoming involved in the arts, Garcia almost went pro as a boxer and studied law. “My family is thinking I will become a corporate lawyer,” he told Voyage LA. “Or, I can leave all of that behind and go to Paris and study theatre. I chose the latter. Paris taught me a lot, and I made all the mistakes one can make. At 21, I moved to L.A. I had no friends, no connections, very little experience, but I had a strong drive. They say knowledge is power, so I read everything I could find about the industry… Seven years later, I got my first opportunity.”

Garcia, whose dad is Spanish and mother is French, was born in France. He grew up in “a small village in the middle of nowhere, not far from Switzerland,” per Voyage LA.
“I spent my childhood going between the mountains and the city, where I trained in martial arts, particularly boxing, which I took seriously,” he explained. “Back then, the only things that were consistent in my life were sports, fighting, reading, and binge-watching films.”
