- Jepsen, a big fan of Heated Rivalry, noted that her baby’s name could be inspired by the hit hockey show.
- The singer also said she’s interested in writing a song for the show’s upcoming second season.
Did Carly Rae Jepsen just prove that she’s the biggest Heated Rivalry fan of us all?
In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Jepsen was asked about potentially writing a song for Season 2 of Heated Rivalry, where she revealed the name and gender of her six-month-old baby for the first time. As a major fan of Season 1, she shared, “It was an incredible show.” Then, she dropped the bombshell: “Ilya is the name of my son.”
So, did Carly Rae Jepsen actually name her son after Connor Storrie‘s Ilya Rozanov? The “Call Me Maybe” singer explained that she named her baby Ilya “maybe, not maybe because of [Heated Rivalry].”
While she didn’t explicitly share the namesake for her baby boy, let’s look at the facts: Heated Rivalry premiered on November 28, 2025. Jepsen and her husband, music producer Cole M.G.N., announced that their son was born in early March 2026, writing, “Last 2 weeks have been the best of my life. Welcome to the world little one,” on Instagram. Seeing as it’s September and we’re still not over the spicy hockey romance splendor that is Heated Rivalry, we’re convinced that she’d still be in the Hollanov trenches in March.

Turns out the feeling is mutual between the “Your Type” singer and the team behind the beloved series. During an interview with What Chaos!, showrunner Jacob Tierney revealed that he would have loved to ask Jepsen to write a new song for Season 1, but he didn’t have the budget to pay for it. Now, he’s hoping to ask the beloved Canadian artist to write an original for Season 2.
According to her recent interview with THR, Jepsen has yet to hear from Tierney, but admitted that a collab with Heated Rivalry for Season 2 would be a “dream” for her.
With her major baby name reveal and Heated Rivalry Season 2 filming underway, we’re sure Tierney will reach out in no time. After all, we’ll believe in anything.
