What is Bourbon & Lies’ release date?

The Bourbon & Lies adaptation was announced on August 11, 2026, but no release date has been shared yet. Still, readers will be happy to know that it’s already moving full steam ahead at Callisto Media and Balboa Productions.

Stallone shared in a statement to Deadline, “Bourbon & Lies was the kind of world I could immediately see on screen. It has romance, danger, heat, humor, family, mystery, and a woman at the center whose past refuses to stay buried. I brought it to Balboa because it felt like exactly the kind of bold, addictive, and emotionally charged storytelling female audiences are already driving into the mainstream.”

Who is in the Bourbon & Lies cast?

There’s no cast yet, but the production team is already in place. Balboa Productions’ D. Matt Geller will oversee the adaptation alongside show creators Meredith Lavender and Marcie Ulin, who served as showrunners on Season 1 of HBO Max’s The Flight Attendant.

Sophia Stallone, who originated the project for television and brought the IP to Balboa, will jointly produce through Callisto, which focuses on women-focused book adaptations.

“It’s truly an exciting time to witness book-to-screen adaptations within the romance genre,” Wilder said in a statement to Deadline. “Seeing these characters and their stories brought to life on screen is something I had never expected. I truly feel lucky that this powerhouse team of women are the ones making it happen. There’s no doubt in my mind that they’re ready to deliver everyone’s next series obsession.”

What is the Bourbon & Lies book about?

Set in Fiasco, Kentucky, the first book in the series follows ex-cop Grant Foxx. His quiet world is disrupted by new arrival Laney Young, who brings lies and danger with her when she starts working for the Foxx family distillery. The spark between them is impossible to ignore, but the darkness in both of their past threatens their lives.

Stallone featured Bourbon & Lies on her “Favorite Book Club” Instagram account, naming it one of her favorite reads of October 2025. “When I tell you I ate this book up within maybe four days, it is so good,” she says in an Instagram video, in which she gives the book five stars.
