During an exclusive interview with Swooon, Park explained that one major storyline she hopes to cover during Season 2 is Oona (Bo Bragason) and Maple’s (Mabel Strachan) relationship with their mother. “That was one of the main things we talked about for Season 2 because Bo is incredible, Mabel’s incredible, and I wish we’d had more time to dig into that,” Park revealed. “We also actually did have a whole other subplot line, which I won’t reveal because we’re gonna do in Season 2 with Oona, that we simply just didn’t have script time for because of what we’d already had to do, so there’s a lot more to her backstory and her mom’s backstory that’d be really fun to dig into.”
As for uncovering more family secrets, she explained, “There are things that we talked about in the room that we would save for a Season 2. So surprisingly, there are. It’s not all genetic and biological necessarily. It’s different, but there definitely are still secrets and mysteries.”

What happened at the end of Sterling Point Season 1?
The final shot of Season 1 is identical to its opening one, but instead of Annie waking up in her New York City bedroom, it’s Ramona. Let’s backtrack: After discovering that she has colorblindness in common with Steven — Annie’s adoptive dad — Ramona asks him to complete a DNA test. Lo and behold, even though Goldie was having an affair with Joe while married to Steve, Steven is Ramona’s biological dad.
Meanwhile, Annie and Connor’s summer in Sterling Point is coming to an end. Connor is looking for his birth parents while Annie makes the most of the time she has left on the island. They have to return to their lives in New York City… or do they? Things are going well between Annie and Ellis now that they’re a couple. Furthermore, Annie feels she belongs in Sterling Point.
Now that she knows her parentage, Ramona wonders out loud if she should spend some time in New York during a conversation with Oona. Despite confirming their love for each other in the previous episode, Oona’s guard goes up immediately. Her fear of abandonment and desire for Ramona to do what’s best for her cause Oona to break up with Ramona.
After her breakup, Ramona is ready to sell the island — she, Annie, and Connor all have to be in agreement. But Annie manages to convince Ramona to hold off for a year before making a decision. Annie also says Ramona should take her place in New York. Ultimately, everyone accepts Annie’s choice to stay behind.
