‘Love Island USA’: Are Aniya Harvey & Carl Schmidt Still Together?
Fans are suspecting that Aniya Harvey and Carl Schmidt‘s Love Island USA romance may have fizzled out.
Though they didn’t win Love Island USA Season 8, the connection Aniya and Carl formed during Casa Amor quickly made them fan-favorites. Though Aniya sent Carl home by staying loyal to her OG partner, KC Chandler, America voted to send Carl back into the villa, giving him and Aniya a second chance. It propelled them all the way to second place. Unlike winners Trinity Tatum and Bryce Dettloff, Carl and Aniya didn’t make their relationship exclusive or official before or since Season 8 came to an end.
Recent social media activity has fans wondering if Aniya and Carl are still seeing each other. In late October, they noticed that fellow contestant Kayda Bosse no longer follows Carl back, as well as one of Aniya’s sisters. Swooon has all the latest updates on the Islanders’ status below.
Are Aniya and Carl still together?
Technically, Aniya and Carl were never in a official relationship as far as we know. Aniya last commented on where she stood with Carl during the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show on October 18. On the red carpet for the Los Angeles-based event, “Me and Carl are good,” she told E! News. “We’re really just focused on our work right now and just building that up.” She then switched topics to the runway show. They also starred in a Samsung ad together that went life in September.
Aniya and Carl haven’t shared any extensive updates on their relationship status since leaving the villa. They last posed for a photo together on August 18, sharing a joint ad for Poppi on Instagram. The Season 8 reunion was filmed on August 10. About a month later, on September 29, Elite Daily shared an interview with Aniya where she gave another update. The villa couple weren’t a real-world couple mainly because of the distance.
Still, they were discussing what a future together may look like. “We talk about moving all the time,” Aniya explained. “He’s currently trying to decide if he wants to move to LA or New York. I’m still trying to figure out what I want to do. I haven’t decided yet. We don’t want to rush anything, especially with the pressure of being on the show. But we talk to each other every day and have really good communication.”
In Carl’s first Instagram post after the show, he shared a photo of him and Aniya on their final date. “Walls were never really up let’s be honest,” he wrote. Aniya added it to her own Instagram Story shortly after, captioning it, “My Prince Charming” with a heart-hands emoji.

They also spoke about their future together during the show. When Carl asked what life outside of the villa would look like, Aniya said, “It would be so cute if we could meet up in Nantucket.”
They spoke about how it’s closer to Aniya’s home state of Georgia compared to Carl’s current home base, Denver. Carl has also spent time in Nantucket throughout his life, and he took Aniya there seemingly some time in August.
Aniya also mentioned wanting to learn how to ski, and Carl offered to teach her before saying, “I was a little bit nervous and a little bit hesitant because you know I have to be in Denver for the next three years for PT school. That’s hard when you’re in two different states.”
When Aniya asked if Carl was open to a long-distance relationship, he said, “I’ve tried distance in the past, and it is tough, but I think distance works well if both people have their lives together. We can both kind of grind and grow together kind of deal.”
Aniya agreed. Later, during their first date, the two cheered to “hopefully to more [dates] in the future.”
