‘Secret Lives of Mormon Wives’ Season 5 Trailer Reveals Taylor Frankie Paul’s Status & More
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Season 5 will be its most explosive season yet. Amid the fallout from Taylor Frankie Paul and Dakota Mortensen‘s ongoing drama, the Hulu reality series is returning this fall. The official trailer shares a glimpse into what happened just before Taylor’s season of The Bachelorette got pulled from the air.
The footage revealed that Dakota got Taylor’s initials tattooed on his lip. “It’s giving obsessed,” Taylor told Dakota over FaceTime. “I am obsessed,” he said. Later, Jessi Ngatikaura seemingly referred to Dakota and Taylor when she said, “They’re like Romeo and Juliet in the TikTok age.”
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives halted filming during Season 5 amid a “domestic assault investigation” regarding Taylor and her ex. While there was speculation that this would be the end of Mormon Wives, the show is coming back with just a shorter episode count than usual. Swooon is breaking down everything we know about The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Season 5.
When will The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Season 5 premiere?
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Season 5 will premiere on September 10.
“After two wild years, #MomTok is hotter than hell, but will friendships and dreams go up in flames? Taylor returns from The Bachelorette with unfinished business, an old temptation, and the pressure of life in the public eye,” the official synopsis reads. “Whitney debuts on Broadway in New York City as tensions back home chase her. Back in Utah, the limits of loyalty are tested as fame, secrets, and backlash threaten #MomTok — with every blowup making headlines. As the heat threatens to burn the sisterhood, have they finally flown too close to the sun? With rumors spiraling and the public demanding answers, the sisterhood starts to crack, and #MomTok must decide what — and who — it’s willing to sacrifice.”
In November 2025, Hulu renewed the series for 20 more episodes, which SLOMW had previously split into two seasons. Season 4’s 10 episodes premiered in March 2026. While Season 5 would normally have 10 episodes, it has been shortened to just 5 due to the production’s sudden hiatus.
Why was The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Season 5 on pause?
According to TMZ, The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Season 5 filming reportedly paused because of a “heated blowup” between Taylor and her on-again-off-again ex, Dakota. Sources alleged that production “shut down” because “the situation became intense enough that filming couldn’t continue as planned.”
Just after Season 4 aired and before The Bachelorette was supposed to premiere, a Draper City Police Department spokesperson confirmed to People that there was an open “domestic assault investigation” regarding Taylor and Dakota. According to the spokesperson, “allegations have been made in both directions” and “contact was made with involved parties on [Feb] 24th and 25th.”
A source close to the cast said Taylor’s fellow MomTok members were distancing themselves from Taylor amid the ongoing drama. “None of the women want to be associated with her,” the source claimed.
After the show’s filming paused, the leading ladies (except for Taylor) only returned to film confessional interviews.
Taylor and Dakota’s legal battles, which have mostly involved their son, Ever, have been ongoing for months. On August 7, a judge ruled that Taylor had finished her three-year probation as part of her plea deal stemming from her 2023 arrest. Her aggravated assault felony charge has been amended to a Class A misdemeanor.
Who is returning for The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Season 5?
Most of the Season 4 cast is returning for Season 5. However, this will be Whitney Leavitt‘s final season as a main cast member. Taylor will be featured in a limited capacity. In addition to Whitney, Jessi, and Taylor, the other Mormon wives will be back, including Jen Affleck, Mayci Neeley, Miranda McWhorter, Layla Taylor, and Mikayla Matthews. Demi Engemann is not expected to return.

This means the dudes of DadTok — Jordan Ngatikaura, Jacob Neeley, Jace Terry, Zac Affleck, Chase McWhorter, and Conner Leavitt — will most likely be joining their wives/partners/exes. It’s unclear how much of Dakota will be included in Season 5.

What happened in The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Season 4?
Seriously, what didn’t happen in The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Season 4? On the Taylor and Dakota front, their on-again, off-again relationship continued. They fought, hooked up, and fought over and over again. Dakota also started seeing Miranda’s best friend, Shinia Powell. In the Season 4 finale, Dakota claimed that he and Taylor had sex the night before she left to go film The Bachelorette.
Jessi and Jordan tried to work through their issues after her emotional affair with Vanderpump Villa‘s Marciano Brunette, but things are still rocky between them. Tension between Jen and Whitney boiled over as the two competed against each other on Dancing With the Stars. Jace and Mikaya’s intimacy issues continued, and they decided to separate so they could work on healing.
Layla wanted to pursue modeling in Season 4, but she was rejected by Ford Modeling. She then revealed that she only weighed “99 pounds” after she began using GLP-1 weight loss drugs.
