Netflix’s ‘Pride and Prejudice’ Reveals 2026 Premiere Date & New Photos

Pride and Prejudice fans now have their first look at all the actors bringing Jane Austen’s beloved book characters to life in Netflix’s upcoming TV adaptation. Although the streamer has released some footage and photos of Emma Corrin‘s Elizabeth Bennet and Jack Lowden‘s Mr. Darcy, it has only just now offered a glimpse of Mr. Bingley (Daryl McCormack), Mr. Wickham (Louis Partridge), and more.

In equally exciting news, Netflix has announced the premiere date for the limited series, which promises to be a “faithful” retelling of the classic romance novel. The new take, penned by Dolly Alderton, arrives about three decades after BBC’s Colin Firth-led miniseries aired. What can Austenheads expect from the 2026 version? Keep reading for the full rundown on the cast and more details, including all those first-look photos.

When is Pride and Prejudice coming out?

Austenheads will be happy to know that the six-episode limited series arrives just in time for the holidays on December 3.

Who is in the Pride and Prejudice cast?

After announcing Corrin, Lowden, and Olivia Colman (Mrs. Bennet) in the main roles back in April, Netflix has unveiled the rest of the cast. Rufus Sewell (The Diplomat) will appear as Mr. Bennet, the sarcastic patriarch of the family.

Jane, one of his daughters, will be played by Freya Mavor. You might recognize her from Industry (or as Mini McGuinness in Skins, to throw it back further). Jane’s love interest, Mr. Bingley, will be brought to life by Daryl McCormack (Good Luck to You, Leo Grande). His sister, Caroline, will be played by Siena Kelly (Black Mirror).

Mr. Collins, the bumbling, distant cousin of the Bennets, will be portrayed by Fleabag‘s Jamie Demetriou. He vies for Elizabeth’s affection, though he eventually weds her closest friend, Charlotte Lucas. On August 18, Deadline revealed that her role has gone to Jasmine Blackborow (The Gentlemen).

The charming (yet deceptive) Mr. Wickham also sets his sights on Elizabeth, and he’ll be played by Enola Holmes‘ Louis Partridge. The flirty and impulsive Lydia Bennet is none other than Heartstopper‘s Rhea Norwood. Killing Eve‘s Fiona Shaw will try to keep Elizabeth away from Mr. Darcy as Lady Catherine de Bourgh. (Shaw also happens to be starring in another upcoming Austen adaptation, Sense and Sensibility.) Her daughter, Anne, will be played by Liz Kingsman (F1: The Movie).

The rest of the cast list includes Anjana Vasan as Mrs. Gardiner and Sebastian Armesto as her husband. Rosie Cavaliero is Lady Lucas, while Justin Edwards is Sir William Lucas. Saffron Coomber and James Dryden will play Mrs. and Mr. Hurst. James Northcote is Colonel Forster and Eloise Webb is Harriet Forster. Last but not least, Isabella Sermon is Mr. Darcy’s elder sister, Georgiana.

Who is making Pride and Prejudice?

The team behind the Pride and Prejudice remake is no stranger to the romance genre. The show was written by Alderton, who wrote Everything I Know About Love and Good Material. Heartstopper director Euros Lyn is translating her script to the screen and doubles as executive producer.

“Once in a generation, a group of people get to retell this wonderful story and I feel very lucky that I get to be a part of it,” said Alderton, who’s also serving as an executive producer. “With Euros Lyn directing our stellar cast, I am so excited to reintroduce these hilarious and complicated characters to those who count Pride and Prejudice as their favourite book, and those who are yet to meet their Lizzie and Mr Darcy.”

Rounding out the roster of executive producers are Corrin — their first time in the role — and Lookout Point’s Laura Lankester, Will Johnston, and Louise Mutter. Lookout Point is a BBC Studios company, which made Disney+’s Renegade Nell, the final season of Happy Valley, and two seasons of Gentleman Jack. Lisa Osborne is producing.

What is Pride and Prejudice about?

Fans of the book don’t have to worry about the series straying too far from the source material. Netflix has confirmed that it will be a “faithful, classic adaptation” of the story, which Alderton says is the “blueprint for romantic comedy.” It primarily follows the independent Elizabeth, who hails from a middle-class family, as she clashes with and ultimately falls for closed-off aristocrat Fitzwilliam Darcy.

“Playing Elizabeth Bennet is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” Corrin said. “To be able to bring this iconic character to life, alongside Olivia [Colman] and Jack, with Dolly [Alderton]’s phenomenal scripts, is truly the greatest honor. I can’t wait for a new generation to fall in love with this story all over again.”

“We are delighted to be sharing this beloved British classic with our global audience,” added Netflix executive Mona Qureshi. “Dolly’s fierce intelligence and enormous heart, twinned with her genuine love of the Austen novel, means she is able to bring new insights, whilst celebrating all that the generations of fans hold so dear.”
