Campus Drivers is rolling onto Prime Video, introducing Lois (Carmen Kassovitz) and her Belrose University classmates from C.S. Quill’s book series. When her heart is broken, Lois finds herself with nowhere to stay until campus bad boy Lane offers her his couch, leading to some forced-proximity, enemies-to-friends-to-lovers goodness.

While Swooon has a nifty guide to all the actors starring in the new college romance adaptation, we’re sure you’re particularly interested in Campus Drivers’ leading man, Baptiste Masseline. Before he played Lane, Masseline starred in another popular French-language series for Prime Video, which had viewers swooning then. Keep scrolling for our full deep dive into the actor as he returns to the spotlight in Campus Drivers.

Where is Baptiste Masseline from?

Masseline is from Paris, France. He grew up in the city. When he was a child, he hung out in the street with his friends, and during one of those occasions, he was hit by an unmarked police car speeding down an alley, the actor recalled in an interview with Acumen. He spent a year in a wheelchair, and a year and a half on crutches.

He started karate at 16 in order to strengthen his leg. A year later, he became the Paris champion. “I competed in the championships with my club, Kajyn, run by Daniel Serfati – I send him my love, by the way! The first time I won, I was an orange belt. After that, I kept going, won several times, participated in the French championships, and we finished second as a team,” he told the outlet.

Masseline is currently a black belt, a six-time Paris champion in team and individual events, and a two-time Paris vice-champion in team and individual events, per his talent agency. He also played rugby for eight years and knows how to alpine ski. After his accident, he also discovered his love for acting. “But initially, it was just a way to rebuild my life after the accident,” he said. “Eventually, it became my life.”

How old is Baptiste Masseline?

Born in 2000, Masseline is 26 years old at the time of Campus Drivers’ premiere. He studied drama at Cours Florent from 2017 to 2020.

Masseline isn’t currently known to be dating anyone, though he has spoken about his love life before. While shooting that scene, I felt all the pain I had never truly confronted, and I burst into tears.”
