What To Know
- Phoebe Dynevor shared behind-the-scenes photos and video from the Beach Read set.
- She included photos and videos of costars Patrick Schwarzenegger and Kevin Bacon.
- The adaptation of Emily Henry’s romance novel follows rival writers January and Gus as they swap genres to overcome writer’s block.
Phoebe Dynevor had a busy summer. The actress spent it filming Beach Read, the highly anticipated adaptation of Emily Henry’s romance novel, and she’s given fans a behind-the-scenes look at the set and costars Patrick Schwarzenegger and Kevin Bacon in between takes.
In June, director Yulin Kuang shared the first photo of Dynevor’s January and Schwarzenegger’s Gus. Beach Read follows a romance author (Dynevor) who no longer believes in love. When she moves into her late father’s beach house for the summer, she embarks on a mission to solve her writer’s block alongside her former rival and literary fiction author Augustus Everett, who lives nearby.
Dynevor’s November 2 Instagram post offered fans a look inside the production. “I can’t I’m ‘working,'” Dynevor captioned the carousel, which also included BTS glimpses of her upcoming romantic supernatural thriller Remain. One photo shows Schwarzenegger smiling alongside Dynevor’s husband, Cameron Fuller, who’s a producer and fellow actor.

Upon the announcement of his casting, Schwarzenegger took to Instagram to share his excitement about the project. “I will do everything possible to make the fans happy & proud and bring your brilliant writing to life. PS- my wife is obsessed with you! @phoebedynevor I can’t wait to bring these characters to life with you. It was a pleasure working opposite you through these chemistry reads. And to @yulin.kuang for your direction & conversations about these characters and their stories. I can’t wait to embark on this journey with you.”
Fuller appeared in another photo next to Bacon, who was announced as a Beach Read cast member in May. His character details are currently under wraps.

Dynevor also seems to have included herself at the site of a fan-favorite book scene. To fix their writer’s block, January and Gus switch genres for the summer. She takes Gus to a carnival to show him why it’s a tried-and-true backdrop for romance.

Last but not least, Dynevor wrapped up her post with a video of herself and Schwarzenegger riding in a golf cart along the beach.
Dynevor has spoken about Beach Read since her casting was announced, too. “It’s been a while since I’ve been able to do [romance]. So it felt like all the pieces were in place to make like a really beautiful romance film [that] hopefully everyone will see,” she told Collider. “And hopefully the people that love the book will enjoy, and we’ll also get a new audience.”
