‘‘Drive – The Pretenders’: Everything We Know About a Sequel Movie

If you’re a romance lover like us, Sarah (Lisa-Marie Koroll) and Dante’s (Amin Baahmed) story in Drive – The Pretenders has already raced into your heart. In Prime Video’s latest romance, mechanic Sarah and bad-boy Formula 1 star Dante fake an engagement, but by the end, their feelings are anything but artificial.

If you need more Sarah and Dante after devouring the first film, you can start by reading the book it’s based on. The German-language movie is an adaptation of Tamara Lush’s Wattpad story-turned-published book of the same name. But what about the future of Sarah and Dante on screen? Is Prime Video revving up a sequel? Keep reading for everything we know. (Warning: Spoilers ahead!)

Do Sarah and Dante end up together in Drive – The Pretenders?

In the movie’s third act, Sarah and Dante have a falling out when the latter discovers that the former has been hiding her racing training from him, even after they became a real couple. Things get even more complicated when fellow racer Ruben leaks to the press that their engagement is fake.

Then, Dante wins a big race. He freezes in the middle of it, unable to get his sister out of his mind. She died in a car crash with Dante in the passenger seat. They were arguing at the time, so Dante blames himself for his death. Back in the present, Sarah helps Dante get back in the race by telling him to do it for his sister.

After Dante finds Sarah and tells her that on the podium, he realizes he doesn’t care about racing anyone. He just wants to be with her. They drive off together. Just before the credits roll, Sarah gets a call with an offer to sign officially with Eagle Racing as their number one driver.

Dante tells her she should accept. “Maybe I don’t want to do Formula 1 anymore after you’ve signed,” he says. So, will they become a racing power couple? Will Dante become a Formula 1 WAG? Inquiring minds need to know.

Will there be a Drive – The Pretenders 2?

Though the ending leaves Sarah and Dante’s story slightly open-ended — we still need to see Sarah become a full-fledged driver — no sequel has been greenlit yet. However, we could hear more in the coming days or weeks. The first movie only just came out on October 28.

Which cast members would return for Drive – The Pretenders 2?

Based on where the movie leaves things, it seems Koroll and Baahmed would likely return. Gustav Schmidt’s Ruben destroyed his friendship with Sarah, so there’s no telling if he would come back. We aren’t sure about the Eagle Racing team, which includes actors Mišel Matičević, Lucie Heinze, and Frederic Linkemann, either, though Sarah would likely explore her new racing career there.

Is there a second Drive – The Pretenders book?

This is where things get a little more complicated. There are three books in Lush’s trilogy, but they all focus on different couples. It’s unclear if a second movie would continue focusing on Dante and Sarah, or switch to the leads of Lush’s Crash, Evie and Alex.

Set in Atlanta, Alex is a competitive motorcycle racer-turned-businessman, and he falls for his family company’s marketing intern, Evie. Like Dante and Sarah, they fake an engagement so Alex can quell his bad boy reputation. In doing so, he’ll secure his place as the company’s successor. In exchange, Evie gets money for her student loan debt and her sister’s college tuition.
