Meet ‘Drive – The Pretenders’ Hunk Amin Baahmed: All About the Newcomer
Amin Baahmed is racing into the romance world with Prime Video’s Drive – The Pretenders. The German-language film, which is based on a Wattpad story-turned-book, takes place on the Formula 1 circuit. Mechanic Sarah (Lisa-Marie Koroll) joins the pit crew team of bad boy world champion Dante Annunziata (Baahmed), only for them to become fake fiancés.
Drive – The Pretenders is the latest in a long line of Prime Video romances to introduce a newcomer actor as a leading man, which means you likely are eager to dive into Baahmed’s background. As mentioned, Drive is Baahmed’s first leading role, though he’s appeared in the German comedy Kundschafter des Friedens 2, the short film Petja, and a music video for a song called “Slow” in 2024.
Baahmed recalled tearing up when he was offered Drive – The Pretenders. “Until the last moment I always thought ‘Okay, there might be another round [of auditions],’ but I never dreamed about getting the actual role in the end, especially considering that it was gonna be my first one,” he told Imagine Magazine. “Honestly, I feel like I can still not really put into words how grateful I am for this chance I have been given. I just promised the two of them that I was gonna give this movie everything I got from the bottom of my heart.”

To prepare, the actor spent months ahead of the shoot visiting “GT races at places like Nürburgring where the team of Mercedes AMG and Winward kindly showed us loads of valuable information about the sport, culture and tradition of racing. Beyond that I of course made my own research, watched all the documentaries there are on racing and got myself a Playstation 5 plus racing emulators to get a better feeling for the proceedings during a race before we would actually shoot on track,” he said.

Where is Amin Baahmed from?
Baahmed was born in Ottersberg, Germany, but grew up in Bremen, a large city in the northwest region of the country.
How old is Amin Baahmed?
Baahmed was born in 1998. Before securing his first leading film role, Baahmed trained as a breakdancer and worked as a journalist with youth media network Bremen NEXT and COSMO. Earlier this year, he interviewed NASA’s Artemis II astronaut team.
“From journalism I learned that everybody, and I sincerely believe everybody, has a story to tell, if you are willing to really listen sincerely,” he told Imagine. “And in acting, especially as you work on a character, you learn time and time again that what you see on the surface or hear in the words is never literally what is really going on inside.”
