Taylor Frankie Paul‘s season of The Bachelorette never aired, but she confirmed on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives that she got engaged to Doug Mason last year, then cheated on him with ex Dakota Mortensen. Now, Mason is speaking out on the situation for the first time.
“Let’s talk about The Bachelorette,” Mason said on his Instagram Story. “That experience has been looming in my life for some time, and although I’ve been moved on for a long time, I think it’s important to express to you guys that I have.”
In his brief statement, Mason wanted to make it clear that what happened during filming (and afterward) is no longer affecting him. “I’m extremely grateful just for the opportunity to go on the show,” he continued. “I met some brothers, and I learned a lot about myself. I have officially moved on, and this is me saying … I am going that way.”

Paul’s season of The Bachelorette was scrapped from airing just days before its premiere due to a 2023 domestic violence incident involving her and Mortensen. However, on Mormon Wives, Paul opened up about what happened and why she decided to end things with Mason.
Even after she was unfaithful to her fiancé, Paul didn’t call things off. She did turn down a secret weekend getaway with Mason, though, which prompted him to cut off communication for a few days. Ultimately, he thought the space helped their relationship, but Paul was in a different mindset. In fact, she had another ex, Ben Lambert, on her mind.
Once Paul realized that she was possibly starting to have feelings for Lambert again, she knew she had to break up with Mason. Lambert flew out to New York City to secretly spend time with Paul while she was in town, but when he made it clear he was looking for something more serious than she was, she also ended that relationship.
Meanwhile, Paul and Mortensen have been granted mutual three-year protection orders against each other.
