Harry Jowsey Fires Back at ‘Let’s Marry Harry’ Contestants Over Casting Drama
What To Know
- Harry Jowsey refuted claims by some Let’s Marry Harry contestants who said they were unaware of the show’s engagement premise or of his role as the lead.
- He emphasized that the application involved months of interviews and even required contestants to submit dream engagement rings, arguing it was clear what they were signing up for.
- Several contestants, including Lauren Hollinger and Maya Avery, publicly supported Harry’s response.
Following the premiere of Let’s Marry Harry, multiple cast members from the series claimed they did not know the engagement premise of the show or that Harry Jowsey would be the lead until the first day of filming. Now that the finale and reunion announcement are here, Harry is firing back at those claims, writing, “Stop the lies.”
As a prolific reality TV alum, Harry explained, “It takes months and months and months of background checks, psych evaluations, interviews — like a crazy process trying to figure out if you’re the best person for the show.”
While he “can’t speak for everyone’s experience early on in that process,” he pointed towards his very public Instagram casting campaign, wondering how anyone could miss the Netflix announcement. “When we announced the show, the casting process was extremely public. When I posted it, we crashed the site,” he added.
According to Harry, “A lot of people applied for the show, and all the girls there definitely knew what they were signing up for.” Harry revealed that Rachel Natoli from Pitman Casting was behind casting, including those who said they didn’t know which show they signed up for. However, as he put it, “[This] contradicts what Debralee [Tomberlin] says, who was also cast by Rachel.”
In an Instagram Story by Debralee, which Harry shared, she writes, “The application process was pretty intense! Phone calls, zoom interviews, panel interviews, and psych evaluation. I had a few months worth of interviews…”
“Also, to my point,” Harry added, “when the girls were signing up for the show [and] they submitted their dream engagement rings. What did you think was going to happen? Were we going on Floor Is Lava? What did you think was happening?”

The Too Hot to Handle star also claimed that there was no obligation to stay once filming started. “There was no pressure if you wanted to stay or if you wanted to go,” he argued, “which you can see on the show when two of them decide that it’s time for them to leave.” Both Sam Kruse and Rickiyah McGrady self-eliminated during the series. Rickiyah was also one of the women who claimed they did not know they would be engaged to Harry.
As for the women who said that they did not know Harry would be the lead, Harry continued, “I also want to add, some of them are saying, ‘We didn’t know it was Harry. We didn’t know what was going on.’ If you watch the first episode, for someone who doesn’t know about me, they seem to know a lot, like my height, my star sign, my dating history.”
Concluding his argument, Harry told his followers, “It’s fascinating. So basically, what I’m saying is, between the months of interviews and casting for this show, picking your dream engagement ring, picking your outfits for this show, taking time off work, buying your makeup, telling your friends, telling your family that you’re going to go film this show, you’re telling us, thinking that we’re silly and we’re silly little gooses over here, that you didn’t know what you were signing up for, [but] then also telling the other girls everything that you know about me.”

In the comments, contestant Lauren Hollinger corroborated Harry’s claims, writing, “We knew.” Another contestant, Maya Avery, then commented, “Correct.” That said, the women making claims about the secretive casting mentioned that not everyone had the same experience.
