‘Maxton Hall’ Season 3 Trailer Teases Ruby & James Turmoil Ahead
Maxton Hall — The World Between Us is setting up a tumultuous final chapter for Ruby (Harriet Herbig-Matten) and James (Damian Hardung). After revealing when the German romantic drama will return for Season 3, Prime Video unveiled the first teaser trailer, and it looks like it’ll pick up right where that devastating Season 2 cliffhanger left off.
In the teaser, we see Ruby dealing with the fallout from James’ dad, Mortimer (Fedja van Huêt), orchestrating her expulsion from school. He framed her for Lydia’s (Sonja Weißer) affair with a teacher, putting Ruby’s future at Oxford at risk. In a voiceover, Ruby talks about how stories can change everything, dividing lives into a “before” and an “after.”
Since the adaptation of Mona Kasten’s book trilogy premiered in 2024, Ruby and James’ star-crossed romance — she’s a scholarship student, and he’s a fashion house heir — has captivated millions, becoming one of Prime Video’s most popular international titles. They’ve faced countless obstacles since they got together, and Season 3 will see if they can finally get their happy ending.

Maxton Hall‘s final season was greenlit in June 2025. In December 2025, Prime Video revealed that filming had officially wrapped. Not only that, but the streamer also offered up some images of Ruby, James, and the rest of the cast in the upcoming season. “It’s a wrap on S3,” Hardung captioned an Instagram Story, reposting the photos. “That’s it. Thank you for 3 wonderful seasons.”
How many episodes are in Maxton Hall Season 3?
The exact episode count has yet to be revealed, though we can reference past seasons. Seasons 1 and 2 consist of six episodes each.
What is Maxton Hall Season 3’s release schedule?
That information is also currently still under wraps. Season 1 dropped all at once, but Season 2 switched gears. Three episodes came out on premiere day, and one episode was released weekly until the finale.

Who is in the Maxton Hall Season 3 cast?
Herbig-Matten and Hardung, along with several other key cast members, are returning. Sonja Weißer will once again appear as Lydia Beaufort, as will Eidin Jalali as Mr. Sutton.
When Swooon asked the actress about Lydia and Sutton’s romance, Weißer said, “[Their love] is rooted in meeting each other when Sutton was still studying, but at the same time, I personally find their dynamic problematic. What I find interesting is if and how Lydia will reflect this aspect herself. Maybe we will see this someday.” She also added that Lydia “grows even more in Season 3.”
Andrea Guo will appear as Lin, Esmael Agostinho as Wren, Ben Felipe as Cyril, Justus Riesner as Alistair, and Govinda Gabriel Cholleti as Keshav. Dagny Dewath will reprise her role as Aunt Ophelia. Though he didn’t appear in the Season 3 photos, it can be expected that Fedja van Huêt will come back as the villainous Mortimer Beaufort.
“I think it’s different than Season 2,” Herbig-Matten told Swooon in a joint interview with Hardung. “I feel like we have more like group scenes together, and I really enjoy that, and the focus is also on the other characters, and I think that’s really great, just to give them space.”
“I think we have such great supporting actors and actresses and roles in the series that haven’t had the space,” Hardung added. “And I think if you read the third book, a lot of the narratives, a lot of the chapters, are told also through their perspectives. And I think that’s so valuable. I mean, from my perspective, having read those James chapters is really interesting because you have your own inner monologues, and I think having that from a number of perspectives, or Wren’s perspective or Cyril’s perspective, just adds so many layers to the stories.”
In behind-the-scenes video of the first day of filming — which shows a glimpse of Ruby and Jameson a motorcycle— Herbig-Matten said that it felt like a different show on the first day back.

Hardung added in the video, which we translated from German to English, “The book is called Save Us, after all. So, is it about the fact that Ruby and James have found each other by the end of the second part, and are now taking on the world together?”
Is there a Maxton Hall Season 3 trailer?
There’s only a short teaser so far, which you can watch at the top of the page.
We’ve also seen some Season 3 snippets via Prime Video’s Obsessed Fest promo. One shows James and Ruby passionately locking lips in the courtyard of Maxton Hall. It looks like Ruby’s back in uniform, so that could mean she gets un-expelled from school. That’s not really a major surprise: We know James wouldn’t rest until Ruby’s name was cleared!

Is there a third Maxton Hall book?
Even though we don’t yet know the plot details for Season 3, we can read the third book in the Maxton Hall series, Save Us. The book was released in 2018, and its English translation is now available. The first two books in the trilogy, Save Me and Save You, were re-released in English as well.
What happens in Maxton Hall Book 3?
Save Us is called “the grand finale” of James and Ruby’s love story. It picks up where the second book left off: Ruby was just expelled from school. Someone exposed the photos that James took when he was still at odds with Ruby, which made her look like she was kissing a teacher. Now, Ruby’s dream of going to Oxford is at risk. She’s also under the impression that James is responsible, despite their rekindling their romance in the second book.
The official blurb for Save Us reads: “However, after an explosive fight between the two, they discover a terrible truth. Together, Ruby fights to graduate, as James tries to clear her name at school. But that means once again, James must challenge his father and his expectations for him. And despite everything, James still threatens to break under the obligations to his family. Ruby and James must ask themselves if the worlds they live in are perhaps too different after all, or if they can finally find a way back to each other.”

On April 30, Hardung sent a message to fans via Prime Video, writing, “Can you tell them there will be a happy ending? And tell them – MH is a reminder: the only thing more powerful than hate is love.” Fans everywhere breathed a sigh of relief.
