‘Southern Charm’s Austen Kroll & Salley Carson Offer Relationship Update Ahead of Season 12 Premiere
What To Know
- Southern Charm stars Austen Kroll and Salley Carson were among the cast members to appear at this weekend’s Bravo Fan Fest.
- Here, the two offer a relationship update and a preview of what’s ahead in Season 12.
The stars of Southern Charm were front and center at Saturday’s (October 24) Bravo Fan Fest event in Charleston, South Carolina, and some of them had some major updates to share.
Austen Kroll and Salley Carson, in particular, lifted the veil on what fans can expect to see from their semi-romantic situationship.
As Southern Charm fans will recall, the two hooked up in Season 11 and, during the reunion, had not made a decision to take their relationship to the next level. Instead, they were friends with benefits who agreed not to malign one another for seeing other people on occasion.
So has that changed since New York? TV Insider caught up with the duo to get a sense of what’s been going on with them.
Kroll, for one, outlined all of the reasons he is still “magnet”ically attracted to Carson, saying, “Salley is my girl version of me. Most of her drama comes from men. She’s like, ‘I didn’t do anything!’ We’ve all seen me say that a hundred times. She’s like, ‘This guy just loves me, and I didn’t do anything.’ All this drama, and she loves to come out, and she’s fun, and she doesn’t take things too seriously. So clearly, I’m drawn to her energy. You’ll see us navigate that, and it’s just like me talking to her. We have to define our friendship many times. I’m curious if viewers are going to be like, ‘This talk again?’ We’ll see. But Sally and I are also kind of like magnets. We’re just drawn to each other’s energy.”

Kroll had previously used the magnets analogy when discussing the repair of his friendship with costar Craig Conover, which was deeply strained last time we saw the two together in New York. As Kroll told us, “I can talk crap about Shep [Rose] and Craig all day, but there is some sort of magnetism in the Earth that brings me back to those two. I knew that Craig and I were going to get back to a good place, to where I can make him laugh. And it just seems to happen, and I think that’s important. I think it says a lot about how we view each other as best friends. I’m not saying that I don’t drive him crazy and vice versa, but it’s like we don’t have to be friends, but we choose to. We’re coming back to it. Sometimes you have to yell at your brother to feel better, and then you come back and say, ‘All right, all right, I love you.'”
For Carson’s part, she said that Season 12 will show off more of their friendship and how it has progressed. “When you watch the show back, you’ll get more of a feel for our friendship and the relationship that we have. But we definitely have gotten closer since the reunion happened,” she explained.
When costar Rodrigo Reyes weighed in to add, “It’s nice to see you guys’ friendship comes out more versus you being lovestruck,” Carson agreed: “I’m not lovestruck by any means.”
We’ll have to wait and see how that all plays out on screen when Southern Charm returns.
