Get to Know ‘Coven Academy’ Star Louis Thresher
Coven Academy is serving up not only a magical love triangle, but a spellbinding forbidden romance. The new series stars A Series of Unfortunate Events lead Malina Weissman as a teenager sent to an elite boarding school for witches, where she meets warlock Jake, played by Camp Rock 3‘s Malachi Barton. However, someone else joins Jake in the race to capture Briar’s heart.
As she hones her magical skills, Briar finds herself drawn to someone she shouldn’t be: newly-turned vampire Ollie. Whereas you might’ve seen Weissman and Barton in other teen dramas and movies before, Louis Thresher is newer to the scene. Where is Louis Thresher from?
Thresher was born in Australia, but he moved to the United Kingdom during his childhood. He attended the Aldenham School in Hertfordshire, England. During a cast interview with Joseph Arujo, Thresher revealed that he had graduated from university.
How old is Louis Thresher?
Thresher’s exact age isn’t totally clear, though he seems to have mentioned turning 18 years old in an October 2022 Instagram post. So, though he’s playing an eternal teenager in Coven Academy, Thresher is likely in his early 20s.
What has Louis Thresher been in before?
Thresher made his TV debut in the BBC Three comedy Boarders, playing the Masked Raisinette/Jonny in Seasons 2 and 3. He’s also done some stage productions. In November 2023, Thresher acted in a play called A Love Letter to a Charity Shop, sharing behind-the-scenes photos on Instagram.

“I got into it from a young age,” he told TresA Magazine of his interest in acting. “I think I was addicted to the sense of escapism. My mum made me do acting clubs, and eventually I met the wonderful Sara Cole and Jo Scott (my agents) and they took a chance on me.”
Coven Academy is the actor’s biggest role to date. “SOOOO EXCITING! I WENT OUT DANCING IMMEDIATELY!” he said of his reaction to landing the part of Ollie. “Very pinch me and surreal. It was also very daunting, but I was so ready to step into such a new, exciting phase of my life.”
