Given that his hypnotically sexy gaze has already transfixed tons of ladies, it probably makes sense that FOX has tapped Taye Diggs (Murder in the FirstRosewood) to host its upcoming “hypnotic comedy game show” with the working title You’re Back in the Room. Production on the eight-episode, one-hour series, which is based on the format of a U.K. hit, begins this July. The supposedly world-renowned Keith Barry, who stars in the original, will also be on hand as “resident hypnotist,” a title I’d love to have on my resumé.

Why does the show need a resident hypnotist? Because in You’re Back in the Room (or whatever it ends up being called), contestants work together in teams and are challenged to complete simple, everyday tasks – all after being hypnotized. Big money is at stake, but being in an entranced state causes hysterical hurdles that may sabotage their progress. Let’s hope Barry will come up with something more original than having a player think he or she is a chicken.

“The second I saw this show I knew I needed to be a part of it,” said Diggs, in a release. “It’s the most unique blend of comedy and competition I’ve seen in years.”

Hey, Taye – maybe that’s what the resident hypnotist WANTS you to think!
