If you were riveted by NPR’s Serial podcast and HBO’s award-nominated The Jinx, Netflix hopes you’ll relish their new crime documentary, Making a Murderer.
The 10-episode series streams today, Friday, Dec. 18, and the first episode is already available on YouTube (watch below). Filmed over 10 years, the show traces the case of Steven Avery who, after spending 18 years in prison for rape, was exonerated by DNA evidence.

But after working to expose corruption in the Wisconsin legal system, he was rearrested and convicted for the murder of another woman. He’s petitioned for a new trial but was denied, so he’s still incarcerated.
