New Girl, “Par 5” (Tuesday, April 7, 9/8c, Fox)

Jess (Zooey Deschanel) may be socially awkward and physically clumsy, but her passion for her job as an elementary school vice principal shines in tonight’s episode when she tries to raise money for new computers. Schmidt’s (Max Greenfield) intense city counselor girlfriend Fawn (guest star Zoe Lister-Jones) suggests Jess tag along with her to a celebrity golf tournament and hit up a variety of influential figures for the necessary funding. Meanwhile, Winston (Lamorne Morris, who also co-wrote the episode) meets a very attractive woman at the coffee shop, but must lie about being a police officer when she shows a strong bias against cops. Winston’s struggle to reveal his true identity leads to the episode’s highlight: a hilarious conversation with Nick (Jake Johnson) about race, which includes numerous memorable impressions of Eddie Murphy and Jerry Seinfeld. It’s a hole in one.
