‘This Is Us’ Renewed for 2 More Seasons
As the Television Critics Association panel for This Is Us kicked off Wednesday, NBC’s Entertainment President Jennifer Salke announced the freshman drama is being renewed for two more seasons, a minimum of eighteen episodes for each season for a total of at least 36 more episodes beyond its first season.
“The show means everything to us and we’re so appreciative of the artistry and talent both in front of and behind the camera,” Salke said. “They’ve made us all extremely proud.”

The TCA panel included cast memebers Sterling K. Brown (Randall), Chrissy Metz (Kate), Justin Hartley (Kevin), Mandy Moore (Rebecca), Milo Ventimiglia (Jack), Ron Cephas Jones (William), Susan Kelechi Watson (Beth) and Chris Sullivan (Toby), as well as creator/executive producer Dan Fogelman.
Reporters in the room had the same question for the creative team as fans do: When will we find out more about what happened to Jack, who we see in the show’s flashbacks, but know is dead in the present day? “Next week’s episode is a big episode,” said Fogelmen during the panel. “The needle we have to continue to thread is sparsing out information so it doesn’t get too frustrating for people.”
Fogelman also said the past and present structure of the show affords the writers the opportunity to spin tales of the Pearson family for many years to come. “I know where the series goes for multiple, multiple seasons,” said Fogelman. “The great thing about the show is the nature of the timeline. We’ll never run out of stories, really.”

The series has been a hit for NBC since debuting last fall. Actresses Moore and Metz were both nominated for Golden Globes. (Neither actress took home a statue.) The show was also nominated in the drama series category—the network’s first in 10 years.
This Is Us, Tuesdays, 9/8c, NBC. The first season finale airs March 7 on NBC.
