Make room for mama!

In keeping with its fondness for casting former teen idols in adult roles, The CW just announced that Pretty in Pink icon Molly Ringwald will be popping up near the end of Riverdale‘s first season as Archie’s mother, Mary Andrews.

Set to appear in the 10th and 11th episodes, Ringwald will bring her character back to town after a two-year absence spent “following her dreams.” No word yet on how Archie (KJ Apa) or or his dad Fred (Luke Perry) will feel when Mary resurfaces, but we’re digging the idea that she’s coming back in time for Riverdale High’s homecoming dance.
