Golden Globe Nominations: ‘Stranger Things’, ‘Westworld’ and ‘This Is Us’ Score

The nominees for the 74th Golden Globe Awards were announced Monday morning. As always, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association acknowledged several newcomers, including Netflix’s buzzy sci-fi saga Stranger Things, which scored a best drama series nod along with an acting nomination for Winona Ryder. Other freshman series that landed in multiple categories include Netflix’s Queen Elizabeth drama The Crown, HBO’s fantasy epic Westworld, FX’s gritty dramedy Atlanta and NBC’s emotional family drama This Is Us.

FX’s The People v. O.J. Simpson scored multiple nods, including best TV movie/miniseries and for cast members Courtney B. Vance, Sarah Paulson, Sterling K. Brown and John Travolta, while ABC’s black-ish broke through with nominations for best comedy series, along with its two leads, Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross.

The CW continued to earn favor with the HFPA, landing two nominees for best actress in a comedy series: Rachel Bloom of Crazy Ex Girlfriend and Jane the Virgin’s Gina Rodriguez. Bloom took home the trophy last year, while Rodriguez won the year before.
