Michael Bay to Produce Live-Action 'Dora The Explorer' Movie
Paramount is developing a live-action film based on Nickelodeon's Dora the Explorer that is being eyed to release in 2019.
The educational series, which ran on Nickelodeon for 172 episodes from 2000-2014, involved 7-year-old Dora and her monkey Boots interacting with viewers to help solve riddles and learn the Spanish language.
The original Netflix series quickly became a fan favorite and won an Emmy.
Filmmaker Nick Stoller (The Muppets, Neighbors), is penning the script for the film which will be produced by Michael Bay (Transformers) and his Platinum Dunes partners Andrew Form and Brad Fuller, noted The Hollywood Reporter.
The film will feature Dora as a teenager who moves to the city in order to live with her cousin Diego who also starred in his own Nickelodeon series, Deadline reported.
Dora the Explorer is being handled by the studios Paramount Players label which is devoted to producing films based on Viacom owned properties which includes Nickelodeon, MTV, Comedy Central and BET.
