Amazon announced Monday that Emmy- and Golden Globe-award winning actor Jon Hamm is  joining the TV adaptation of Neil Gaiman (American Gods) and Terry Pratchett’s best-selling novel, Good Omens.

The former Mad Men star will play archangel Gabriel, the primary messenger of God, in the six-part series.

“I read Good Omens almost twenty years ago. I thought it was one of the funniest, coolest books I’d ever read. It was also, obviously, unfilmable,” Hamm said in a statement. Two months ago Neil sent me the scripts, and I knew I had to be in it.”

The series is currently in production and will be available on Amazon Prime Video in 2019. Michael Sheen and David Tennant star as Aziraphale and Crowley, respectively. Gaiman also serves as showrunner.
