Are ‘Selling Sunset’s Chrishell Stause & Emma Hernan Still Friends? The Latest Drama
For five seasons of Selling Sunset, fans watched as Chrishell Stause and Emma Hernan developed a close friendship that began when Hernan joined the cast in 2021. But that’s not the case in Season 9, which was released on Wednesday, October 29.
Earlier this year, Stause confirmed that her friendship with Hernan was on the rocks, and fans are now getting to see exactly what led to their falling out. Following the release of Selling Sunset Season 9, Stause added more context to the reason she’s decided to distance herself from Hernan. Scroll down for everything we know.
Are Emma Hernan and Chrishell Stause still friends?
No, Stause and Hernan aren’t friends anymore. In May, just weeks after the ladies attended a concert together, Stause posted an Instagram video, and one fan commented, “Whats happening with you and emma? 😮 hot topic on reddit.” The buzz began a few months earlier when fans noticed that Stause and Hernan weren’t posting on social media as much.
In her reply, Stause confirmed her falling out with her former bestie. “Ask her about her MAGA bf who told me pronouns are dumb and that he likes to use the N word,” she wrote. “I just can’t with that. Too old to allow that in. But love her from afar.”
The boyfriend in question is Blake Davis. He and Hernan went public with their relationship in early 2024. She preivously revealed that Davis filmed scenes for Season 8 of Selling Sunset in 2024, but they were cut. He made his debut on the show during Season 9 instead.
In an interview with Us Weekly, Hernan responded directly to Stause’s allegation about Davis calling pronouns “dumb,” referencing her former friend’s marriage to G Flip, who is non-binary. She insisted, “He did not say that pronouns were dumb. He would never say that. He accidentally [called G Flip] ‘wife.’ He said ‘they’ earlier in the conversation because I told him and I explained it. It was kind of the first time he was learning about it.”
Hernan explained that this happened “like two years ago,” adding, “He said, ‘When is your wife coming back from Australia?’ and I corrected him because I wanted to be sensitive. I’m super sensitive about the situation, so I corrected him, and he said, ‘Oh my God, my bad, I’m from the south and we don’t really do it there.’ He did not say pronouns were dumb.”
Stause responded via her Instagram Story. “This is NOT what was said,” she insisted. “But good job Emma in flaming the hate for my partner and their preferred pronoun use. I have never gotten mad if someone politely got G’s pronouns wrong. It happens all the time and we gently correct and we move on. I will wait to see what airs on the reunion before fully responding. But since filming the reunion his own very hateful posts on his IG Story against LGBTQ community speak volumes on who to believe here.” (More on that below).
Why aren’t Emma Hernan and Chrishell Stause friends anymore?
On Selling Sunset Season 9, which was filmed at the end of 2024 and beginning of 2025, viewers got a glimpse of Stause’s issues with Davis. After she met up with Davis and Hernan for lunch and learned that her friend’s boyfriend has never ate a fruit or a vegetable in his life, Stause admitted, “It feels like I’m having a conversation with a child or a drunk cheerleader.”
She later opened up to Hernan about her concerns regarding Davis’ maturity level. “You don’t want to feel like you’re being someone’s mom,” she pointed out. “It feels like you’d be his mom a little bit. I hope he’s still maturing. God forbid he doesn’t. I don’t think this is your person. But that’s also probably not what you want to hear right now, so I’ll be quiet.”
In another episode, Hernan revealed that Davis doesn’t want her to work anymore, prompting Stause to call him a “douchebag.” Stause also told Hernan she was worried that Davis was going to “isolate” her from her friends, and warned her that he may even try to get her pregnant as a way of trapping her in the relationship.
“It’s hard to watch you with someone who doesn’t treat you the way you deserve to be treated,” Stause added. She later called Davis “controlling” and “extremely obsessive,” which she noted are “red flags.”
Toward the end of the season, Hernan told Stause that she ended her relationship with Davis after he got drunk and asked her to marry him with the “worst proposal ever.” She also acknowledged his “jealous” tendencies. Stause, meanwhile, apologized to her friend for how blunt she was about the situation.
However, this was seemingly filmed before Stause’s May Instagram update, and a preview for the Season 9 reunion, which was filmed in August and airs on November 5, shows Stause and Hernan getting into an argument over Davis. Plus, Stause has doubled-down on her feelings about Davis on social media.
“Since the edit decided to leave all of the real issues out, this is just a portion of Emma’s bf posts,” she wrote on Threads on November 4, along with screenshots of posts from Davis’ Instagram page. “So you can imagine the things I learned in the course of 2 yrs. I will ALWAYS stand up to this. The top 1% picking on the bottom 1% is true loser behavior.”
One post included Davis sharing photos of Barbie dolls he came across in the store and asking, “Why do they have a fat Barbie? And cripple Barbie?” Stause wrote, “I’ll let his words speak for themselves since it’s now my word against theirs.” She also shared several of Davis’ insensitive posts about the personal life of the suspect in Charlie Kirk’s murder.
Are Emma Hernan and Blake Davis still together?
Despite their breakup on the show, Hernan and Davis have since gotten back together. They took a trip together in October, which was heavily documented on social media. During the Season 9 finale, Hernan had teased a possible reconciliation.

“If he chooses to step up and do the things I need him to do, would I be open to a conversation? Maybe,” she shared. Davis recently shared photos of a trip the pair took to Turks & Caicos for Hernan’s birthday, proving that their relationship is going strong.
