While it may still be tough to let go of Marvel’s Agent Carter, we can rest easy that star Hayley Atwell is still going to be on our televisions this fall with her new ABC series, Conviction.

After screening the pilot episode, we can tell you that Atwell’s new role is worlds apart from the morally centered and heroic Peggy Carter. While we’ll miss seeing her in sharp 1940s fashion fighting the good fight between good and evil, the actress’s new, more flawed role as a brilliant lawyer and former first daughter fits her like a glove.

As Hayes Morrison, Atwell finds herself in between a rock and a hard place when she must either face drug possession charges and going to prison or working for her nemesis, New York District Attorney Conner Wallace (Under The Dome‘s Eddie Cahill). Morrison, clearly not wanting to spend time in the slammer, is thrown into leading a team that investigates wrongful convictions.

The series also stars Shawn Ashmore (The Following), Merrin Dungey (Once Upon A Time), Manny Montana (Graceland), Daniel Franzese (Looking)  and Emily Kinney (The Walking Dead).

Today ABC released a new piece of the show’s key art, which features Atwell and the tough-to-balance scales of justice.
