So much for a happy homecoming. Back in her native Scotland in the June 13 episode of The CW’s Reign, Mary (Adelaide Kane) meets Munro (guest star John Barrowman, of Arrow), a powerful Scottish clan leader who poses a threat to the queen’s crown—and who was ultimately responsible for her husband Francis’s death.

“Mary’s out for vengeance,” says exec producer Laurie McCarthy, who describes Mary and Munro’s first meeting as “raucous and uninhibited.”

Munro is very similar to Barrowman himself, according to McCarthy: “The actor is so charming, lively and funny that I wanted a character who really lived up to that.” She promises the episode will be memorable: “They meet again at a party, and there will be violence.”

Reign, Mondays, 8/7c, The CW.
