NBC Announces Fall Schedule: ‘Blindspot’ to Wednesdays, ‘Superstore’ Kicks Off Thursdays, Plus 3 New Shows

NBC Upfronts 2016

NBC unveiled its fall schedule on Sunday, and, given the network’s overall good showing last season, it is fairly stable. With Sunday Night Football in place, though, it makes sense for the Peacock to keep things status quo; it’s after football season when the network needs to add new programming. Because of this, only three new shows are debuting in the fall, with nine shows set to debut during midseason.

A few shows will be shifting around the schedule, though: Blindspot, the Monday freshman hit this past season, will move to Wednesdays at 8/7c, Superstore will kick off a new comedy hour on Thursdays at 8/7c, and Chicago Med moves to Thursdays at 9/8c (The Blacklist shifts to 10/9c to make room).

The three new shows, including trailers:

Timeless (Mondays, 10/9c)
Abigail Spencer plays a history professor who is recruited to join a scientist and soldier to go back in time to chase down a killer, all the while keeping history from changing. Produced by Shawn Ryan and Eric Kripke.

This Is Us (Tuesdays, 9/8c)
A group of seemingly unrelated people are introduced in this show from Dan Fogelman (Galavant), but their lives end up intersecting in strange ways. The first of those intersections: many of them have the same birthday.

The Good Place (Thursdays, 8:30/7:30c)
Mike Schur (Parks and Recreation) returns to NBC with a comedy about a woman (Kristen Bell) who goes to “the good place” after dying, but figures out pretty quickly that she’s not supposed to be there. Ted Danson also stars.

Slated for midseason: Taken, Midnight Texas, Emerald City, The Blacklist: Redemption, Great News, Trial & Error, Powerless, Marlon, The Wall.

Returning: The Blacklist, Blindspot, Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, Chicago P.D., Grimm, Hollywood Game Night, Law & Order: SVU, Little Big Shots (returning after football season), Shades of Blue (returning after football season), Superstore and The Voice.

(Yes, fans of The Mysteries of Laura, that means the show has been cancelled.)
