Oprah Winfrey marks her return to TV in Greenleaf, a new 13-episode drama series about a family rooted in a Memphis megachurch.

The series will follow Grace Greenleaf (Merle Dandridge, The Night Shift), a disillusioned preacher who returns home after 20 years. Grace, still haunted by her sister Faith’s mysterious death, must repair her relationship with God and with her estranged parents, who also run the church, Calvary Fellowship World Ministries. Keith David (Community) stars as Grace’s father, Bishop Greenleaf; Lynn Whitfield (The Josephine Baker Story) plays her mother, Lady Mae Greenleaf; and Winfrey has a recurring role as Aunt Mavis McCready.

In addition to being the first recurring TV role for Winfrey in two decades, the power player also serves as executive producer. Craig Wright (Six Feet Under, Lost), an Emmy-nominated writer/producer, worked on the series.

Greenleaf will premiere over two nights on OWN on Tuesday, June 21 and Wednesday, June 22 at 10/9c, before moving to its regular timeslot on Wednesdays.
