The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst, “Chapter #6” (Sunday, March 15, 8/7c, HBO)

Could this be the hour of television that finally takes down Robert Durst? The heir of a New York real estate tycoon has spent his life facing legal scrutiny after the disappearance of his wife, Kathleen, in 1982 and his arrest for the murder of Morris Black in 2001 (he was later found not guilty during trial). But in research for the heart-stopping HBO docuseries The Jinx, filmmaker Andrew Jarecki and his team found a new piece of evidence that could unequivocally link Durst to the suspicious 2000 death of his friend, Susan Berman, in Los Angeles. The Beverly Hills police department was originally tipped off to Berman’s execution-style murder by an anonymous letter mailed to their headquarters, addressed in big block letters with the word “Beverley” misspelled.

In talking with Jarecki’s documentary crew, Berman’s stepson, Sareb Kaufman, uncovered a new letter addressed to Berman with the same block lettering and misspelled “Beverley,” but this time with Robert Durst’s return address. Will Durst be able to squirm his way out of this one? It’s been reported that the L.A. County district attorney is currently in the process of reopening the investigation, so although tonight marks the finale of The Jinx, this is just the beginning of a new chapter in the Robert Durst saga.
