Later in the show, all bets are off when the contestants learn they'll be competing in a Last Chance Challenge with one of their loved ones in order to gain a weigh-in advantage. Ahead of Monday’s big episode, we spoke to Ken Paves himself to find out what's coming up and to learn more about the view from his side of the chair. Plus, watch an exclusive video of Paves talking about magical makeovers.

What's your favorite part of having such an essential role in The Biggest Loser transformation?
The makeover is such an important part of not only the physical but also mental transformation because both, together, are the reasons for not only the weight gain but also keeping the weight on. Unfortunately, when most of us look in the mirror, we immediately condemn ourselves for something and we believe whatever that is. We are usually our worst critic and the harshest to ourselves. When someone has struggled the majority of their life with their weight, their mind only allows them to see themselves as overweight. They believe it so much, they often cannot recognize the extent of their progress. The absolute best part is when they look in the mirror and, for the first time in a long time, they are proud and love what they see! That is my favorite part!

Why do you think the makeover episodes resonate so much with fans?
We all see ourselves in the contestants, even if our struggle is not currently our weight; we all struggle. The makeover is the butterfly moment, the moment of metamorphosis that allows us all to believe we can have and deserve a second chance! Plus, everyone loves the instant gratification that comes with a makeover! People write me all the time and say they would love a makeover from me! As honored and humbled as I am to be a part of The Biggest Loser, you don't need me, just the courage to see your own unique beauty and make a change! There is also a lot less anxiety watching someone else get a makeover! That's the fun part!

If you could describe this season's transformations in one word, what would it be?
Astonishing!!!

Who was the most dramatic transformation or the most difficult to make over?
No one was difficult; everyone really wanted this. But Felicia knew exactly what she wanted and there was no swaying her.... Big and Blonde!!!

How long do you usually have to make the styling decisions for each of the contestants?
I can never have enough time. I try to create looks that are authentic to each person, and it takes time to get to know them and truly understand what that is. It takes a lot of questions. I'm not the person who cuts someone to a red bob because it's easy and demonstrative. I really want to know what is going to make them feel their best and love what they see in the mirror! I actually only have minutes with each person before I start cutting. The cameras are rolling and I have to start cutting. After the initial cut, I go back with more questions to try and make sure I'm doing the right thing.

How much do the contestant’s individuals personalities or styles play into what you do with them?
1000 percent! I leave it all up to them. Whether it feels like it or not, when I question them, they are giving me all the answers I need to come up with their new look. Even if it means they need to go short because they are so afraid to; a makeover is about facing and accomplishing our fears. I always begin the same way: Tell me what you love about yourself when you look in the mirror! I accept no negatives... then I ask, What do you look like when you dream? We all have a "dream" version of ourselves. Not what we dream to look like but truly what we look like in our dreams.

Who or what inspires you as a stylist?
People and places. I am lucky that (for work) I get to travel around the world and see some of the most beautiful sights, places and learn about so many cultures. I get to meet so many amazing people around the world who are authentic to their true selves and unique beauty, and that inspires me.

What is your most memorable moment to date working on The Biggest Loser?
Before this episode, I would say sisters Olivia and Hannah. I mean, that was major short and cropped and then blonde with bangs! They looked amazing! Also, then there was Marie [Pearl] who said her greatest fear was to go short. Someone had told her (when she was young) that she wasn't pretty enough to have short hair. When I said, you know we have to prove them wrong, she burst out in tears! We ended up going super short and platinum! It was sexy and empowering... she loved it and we proved them wrong!!

Could you share one must-have hair tip?
If you love it, wear it with confidence and don't pay attention to what anyone else thinks!!!
