The marriage between prolific producer Dick Wolf and NBCUniversal will last at least through 2020.

The show creator and the network announced their extended deal this afternoon. “Dick Wolf is a without a doubt one of the greatest producers in the history of dramatic television,” said NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt. “The Law & Order legacy would have been enough to set him apart from all the rest, but the Chicago franchise now kicks him into the stratosphere. He has been a defining voice of NBC for over a generation, and he is most welcome at this company forever.”

Law & Order: SVU

Law & Order: SVU

It’s possible Law & Order: SVU could still be around for that long. The sex crimes drama has been given an 18th season renewal and is fast approaching the mothership Law & Order’s 20 years.

In addition, Chicago Med, the new member of Wolf’s Chicago franchise, has been picked up for a second season; a fifth season for Chicago Fire and a fourth for Chicago P.D. had previously been announced. Wolf is also developing a fourth member of the First Responders family, Chicago Law (Wolf recently told us that this show’s development did not influence the decision to put the mini-series reboot of Law & Order on the back burner.)
