Grey’s Anatomy, “Staring at the End” (Thursday, Feb. 26, 8/7c, ABC)

Now in its 11th season, the hospital-set soap has its usual well-played mix of silly, heartwarming and tragic stories, but lately, Grey Sloan Memorial has been awash in tears. (What could be sadder than the 43-minute life of April and Jackson’s baby, Sam, two weeks ago?) Let’s hope there’s a medical miracle tonight when Dr. Amelia Shepherd (Caterina Scorsone) finally tries her never-done-before procedure on the diseased brain of tough, brilliant fetal surgeon Nicole Herman (Geena Davis). We’ll miss the acerbic “tallest person in the hospital” if the brain tumor gets the best of her. Besides we’re ready for the super-smart Amelia to be known as more than Derek’s ex-junkie little sister.
