Fall TV PreviewSorry, Ducky. Forensic pathology hasn’t exactly been a scintillating TV profession since Quincy, M.E.’s titular horndog (Jack Klugman) hung up his Member’s Only jacket in 1983. But that diagnosis could soon change. The main character on the Fox drama Rosewood, Miami medical examiner Dr. Beaumont “Rosie” Rosewood Jr. (Morris Chestnut), is sexy, rich and the type of guy who can take down an armed murderer with nothing but a Botox syringe. You see, Rosie has a heart condition that could cause him to drop dead at any minute. So he doesn’t mind taking a big risk—or seven.

“Rosie lives every day like it’s his last,” Chestnut says. “He has a lot of fun. But he also has a lot of depth in terms of what he’s going through. It’s not glossed over.” His illness is also relevant in his relationship to his new partner, Det. Annalise Villa (Jaina Lee Ortiz). She just lost a relative in the same way Rosie may die, and as a result is not really big on the touchy-feely side of relationships…at least right now. “He sees how she’s protecting herself with this tough exterior,” Chestnut says. “He’s guarded with her, too. But ultimately they both know that the important thing isn’t their friendship; it’s solving murders.”
